Brazilian journalist seems to think we are chasing David Neres from ajax as an alternative to Malcom.

Don't know how reliable he is but maybe just putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5

Maybe we are trying to force bordeaux's hand by saying we've moved on. Not that they'll be that bothered I suspect as they'll sell him for more in the summer.

In terms of alternatives, there is a Brazilian left footed forward who plays for Vitoria Guimares called Raphinha. He’s 21 and looking absolute quality this season.

Think Sporting want to buy him though, which tends to be the way in Portugal, before they move to another league for a zillion pounds.

I doubt we'd get a work permit. He doesn't even have youth caps as far as I know.

Sporting can sign him to replace Gelson Martins when he signs for us. Swear there was ITK on interest in Gelson in the summer. Not sure why we'd suddenly no longer be interested when nothing has changed, we seem to swiping right constantly on these type of players last few years but never getting laid.

Malcom is better than Neres, I believe. So I think that would be a downgrade in option. Having said that Neres is much further behind in his development and barely had any games for SPFC before moving to Ajax, so he's clearly rated by the coaches highly, therefore he could have a higher ceiling to move into. But in this moment in time, Malcom is much more suited to the PL and much more likely to have an impact immediately.

The ITK was Breezer winnering my guess that he was a target, so not exactly rock solid info.

Joao Mario went for 40mil plus bonuses, I don't really know who is considered a bigger prospect at those points in their careers. Additionally they sold Ruben Semedo for only 14mil this summer when he had a 45mil release clause.

It seems every target is 'veeery expensive' for us, even championship players. Still, we live in hope.

Unfortunately the way it is when you are trying to compete with teams far more affluent. That's why we need to be more creative in our dealings and approach to transfers.
