It'll be another Martial moment; some richer fucker will wait and then make their move

I think at times you have to overpay to get ahead of other teams to secure players. Perhaps this is one of those moments. Any protracted deal for this type of talent only ends in disappointment for us.

"He wants to play under Mauricio Pochettino" How lucky are we to have a manager that actually draws players to a club. Imagine a player saying that he wanted to play under Tim Sherwood...
Not fair on sherwood really.. kane was happy to be given a chance under him tbf

Of course he was but we're now hearing players who we haven't bought yet saying that they'd prefer to come to us than other teams because of our manager. That's amazing. I used Sherwood as an easy example but it would probably apply to most of our managers from the last decade tbh.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Excellent point. Can't think of any manager since I've supported Spurs where I've read of a player specifically wanting to play under them.

Is this move efficiently dead until the summer now? Was semi hoping there would be some kind of pre agreement announced in the Keita style. :(

As well as Moura, the Londoners remain keen on Bordeaux's Malcom, another Brazilian winger from Ligue 1, but any deal for the 20-year-old would see him join in the summer and can be agreed outside the winter window, leaving Spurs in no rush to table a bid.

No real benefit for Malcom or Bordeaux in agreeing to that. Unfortunately we'll just have to try our luck again in the Summer.

Well the article seemed to suggest they weren't interested in any deal whatsoever until the summer.

With the way transfer fees are spiralling I can't say I blame them. I think Poyet probably scuppered our chances this window. otherwise I think we might have got him.

I’d like to think that we’ll continue to talk and then as soon as the season ends we’ll get straight in there, but experience has taught me this is not going to happen.

If we get him in early then I'm completely confident that the only other signing that we need is a "brilliant" CM. On the other hand we could drop eriksen and dele deeper and play the likes of lamela, moura, malcom* and son behind/in line with kane. Could also then sell sissoko and maybe even dembele (i love him but he's very injury prone now).

You forgot about the great Kevin Scott wanting to play for Ossie Ardiles.. That's pulling power at its very best!!
