How does a club get the messages of a manager?

There's more going on than just this, Cardiff are investigating/starting action against them in regards to irregularities in the transfers they made. They got a seizing order on the phones to protect any possible evidence contained within, which is why these have come to light.

That they're being turned out in the press now is blatantly Tan stitching them up, looks like he believes they were essentially stealing from him so probably sees it as fair game.

But text messages are private right? So despite the man's prejudices, isn't this a violation of privacy? "Thought Police" stuff?

Not really, they've been taken as evidence just as they'd take anything (letters, for example) they believed might be relevant to the case against them. To get the court order in the first place Cardiff will have had to present enough evidence to make it justifiable

Apparently there was one message that was just a picture of a "Black Monopoly" board where every square was Go to Jail, which (allegedly) he sent to a good few people at the club, so it wasn't exclusively between him and Moody, I think that might have a bearing on it.

Anybody really surprised that the LMA seem to be a) incompetent and b) have similarly backward views as Mackay? Their statement from before made me do an actual facepalm at my desk. 'Banter' indeed'.

Good on Roan for calling them out. I hope this ends up being a massive and epic conspiracy that takes out all of FIFA too...

serioulsy hope Blatter fucks off Tan .. we'd end up with Herr Sepp mounted on 20ft version of the Jules Rimet Trophy and placed in Tan's back garden..

It may well also be the case that the club owned the mobile phone contract and when he was sacked they demanded the phone back and the messages were either on them or retrieved.

"Malky is a great lad, a family man and a real football man, he has made mistakes and people make mistakes in life."

Oh, Harry.

There is the nub of the whole thing.. moronic self-anointed 'real football men' who have failed to realise football is not a 1970's timewarp where they could get away with such things. Redknapp should heed Mark Twain, keep mouth closed and all that..

I suspect the whole industry is still awash with them to be honest. It's just normally too much of a 'closed shop' for us to ever hear about it. It takes an odd maverick like Tan to open up the can of worms.

And I think you can see how widespread those views are by the sheer number of football people who have been defending him for his views - Harry's in particular, complete with weak attempts at moral relativity: "he's not a murderer...", makes that awful 'Spiderwoman' cover look positively like a good idea in comparison than speaking up on this occasion.

Malky admits to the three texts messages as being inexcusable and unacceptable, but denies that he is a racist, sexist, anti-semitic or a homophobe.
