Until Fazio got sent off, we were still in the game.
If you think any different then your kidding yourself.

We were in the game, absolutely. But we were so panicked whenever they got close to our box, anything could've happened really and it manifested itself in 3 conceded penalties.

Lamela was horrible in the game IMO. Yet more poor, low percentage balls and awful ability off the ball. As I've said before, tracking back and pressing isn't the same as running around quickly but awkwardly. He was at fault for the first two goals for me and at Arsenal.

He's almost matched his assist tally with goals he's been at fault for. :playful:

Dont be silly.
Aguero "spanks" most defenders he is what you get when you can spend top money (a reported £1m per month tax paid). Lorris did well and so did Hart, both keepers did their job. We did OK on Saturday a bit of luck would not have gone a miss.

Aguero's open play goals reminded me a lot of Defoe's against City the other year. I don't know if any of our current strikers has that ability. Maybe Kane, as he has a great strike on him. The gulf between Soldado and Aguero is monsterous though, but I've seen shittier teams deal with Aguero a lot better than we can.

Aguero "when fit" , which has not been too often at City is 'unplayable' he's like Messi but an out and out striker. Soldado and Aguero do not bear comparison, and that is not slight on Soldado. Better defenders the Younes and Federico have been sat on their collective arses by that Kun. Aguero is the best striker in the Premiership. But sadly the Chelsea team are better.

It's the same against us when he's not fit. He was running us ragged before he went off in the home fixture last year and he started the game only partially fit. We have issues against him. Not only that though, we've made Dzeko and Negredo look like legends in recent years as well.

I think in this fixture we were lucky Silva had a bit of an off day by his standards and had Toure started, we'd have been completely mugged off.

Have we another Taarabt on our hands? Both have bags of skill but questionable decision making capabilities when under pressure and they are far from alone in this failing.

I agree with some of this but I also think we made a much better fist of the fixture over all. Lamela should have started on the bench and I think Lennon should played. But hindsight is belter isn't it. Still think the third and fourth spots are up for grams this season. Also the league is a great watch.

Lamela is definitely the better player, not capable of the outrageous like Taarabt, but definitely better, however you'd say he should be given his hype/fee/history with Roma. Still doesn't look anything like a goal threat though, I've not seen him put his foot through a good shot since Sunderland I think.

His workrate, effort and following of instructions as well as that he has already produced a host more in terms of productivity in a a Spurs shirt mean there is no comparison.

Bloody hell, a good start to the season which incorporates 2 poor games against City and Liverpool and we are going full neg on Lamela. I don't understand it.

The newest version of these 'would be world beaters' always is?
We have had a a few of these types at Spurs. If they succeed we sell them if the flop the end up playing for Harry ;).
Personally I think Erik will always struggle with pace of our game

What he has on his side at this stage is application, by all accounts he trains hard and wants to be a better, fitter player, unlike Taarabt who was always a maverick. But I do worry that you might be right, we're putting our hopes on this guy that looks leagues behind Eriksen in terms of ability, despite being bigger, quicker, fitter and the same age.

We were still in the game because Aguerro missed a penalty and Lloris had made a few decent saves. Until the last 5 minutes of the first half they were tearing us new holes left right and centre.

The bottom line is ATM he gives the ball away far too often and looks sadly too slow for an attacking midfielder. We can't carry players no matter how much we want them to succeed. He has some great footballing attributes but I'm not sure it is suited to our league. But lets all hope he improves.

Haven't seen any of the game. Nothing. Only read a few reports. By the sounds of it we were in the game until Fazio was sent off. Can someone please tell me if it was a red card? And also please tell me about the penalty incidents? Thanks.

If "being in the game" means we were only a goal down, then fair enough. But we were far from looking likely winners.

At times it was panic stations at the back. Way too many mistakes against a team that will punish you. We look a long way short of top four material.

I saw a great tweet

We had zero chances ourselves?
Even the ref on sky sports says franks was never a penalty.
Joe Hart never made a save?

The thing is, I don't think we do look a long way short - but only because our peers for 3rd/4th are stuttering as well.

That post could have applied to both sides in the game.
