Not sure what to make of that Young penalty shout. Young had shot before there was contact, but he was caught. BT commentators did not think it was a penalty, MOTD did.
MOTD didnt show smallings clear handball in his own box. In fact, not much has been made of that at all.

Can you explain that further? If it's a penalty according to the rules, then it's a penalty. I think that the reason they weren't given it was that in real time the contact may not have been obvious, he'd already passed the ball and so Webb may have started to look away, and it was Ashley Young.

It's called-poetic justice

He even said I dont like Lloris and dont know why they get a foreigner in when they have great keeper like Brad on the bench, then he said mind you De Gea was a foreigner and has is a good keeper

I thinking about complaining with that level of ignorance

I know Brad's acquired just a hint of a Lancashire accent over the years (even if it's only audible to someone attuned to American speech), but implying that's he's any more English than Lloris is clear evidence of early-onset Alzheimer's.

You often see players technically being fouled after getting a shot away, and this does not often results in a penalty. By the book it should be, as long as the ball is still in play at the moment the contact is being made. Nevertheless, most referees let it pass, presumably because the attacking player is not hindered in situations like this (since the ball already has been played) .

Ahley Young has clearly been perfecting a new innovation... the mid air dive.

jumps to get the ball above Lloris, gets there first and manages to twist his body to the parallel against his own inertia, so that by the time the (minimal if any) contact from Lloris has happened Ashley already has his body in the horizontal position.

BT Sport called it, including ex red devil (mono t)owen.

This man deserves his own show; Maybe the Cirque de'ashley or Splash (that one may have copyright issues)

Or he could put on a mask and call the show "Diver's biggest secrets finally revealed."

Honestly what a ride, got in the car after 65 mins and thought this is going well, we scored a goal seconds after and thought, this was our day but as soon as welbeck scored i was like fuck, fuck, fuck!

Then we seemed to get lucky today but the five live commentator wanted us to lose(im not taking the piss)

Should have heard the BT commentator (that wasn't Owen)

Actually said the following after Owen had praised Chiriches... "He is a no nonsense sort of defender, keeps it simple and doesn't try anything flashy..."

So basically what he was saying was. "who is this player? I have never seen him before."

Just realised that only Walker, Lennon, and Dembele played in the win at Old Trafford last season. Pretty impressive stuff from Tim's Tottenham.

Surely that makes last season's win all the more impressive?

I'll never belittle last season's result. For me that was AVB's greatest moment as a Spurs manager, and the happiest memory I'll have of his time in charge. Simply to overcome the psychological issue of having not won there for so long was a huge achievement.

I meant 'Tim's Tottenham' more in the sense that this wasn't simply Sherwood taking last season's team to Old Trafford and their experience of that win making the difference. Two very different teams. That team had Sandro, Bale, and Vertonghen. This team had Eriksen, Soldado, and an on form Adebayor.

Both great achievements.

Haha I was thinking the exact same thing. Nobody knows shit about Chiriches. Can't recall who it was in the last game, but he was trying to share his expertise on the type of player Vlad is and admitted that it was the second time he'd ever seen him play in the same sentence.

Great to see Soldado looking so happy during the celebrations for Eriksen's goal. He's loving it!
Can´t say the same thing for Adebayor.

To his defence he, by that time, maybe was injured all over his body and was too exhausted to celebrate
