Crumbs! You thought Sherwood rescued it? We weren't exactly relegation fodder when he came in.
Liverpool and Arsenal have had a lot of time to bed in their squads, whereas Poch has had to sort out a mess as well as take us further. Those wins weren't idiosyncratic performances, but yesterday's first half can be expected when we have as young a team as we have. Bentaleb's pass to Rooney summed up te complete mental shutdown that occurred.

We weren't relegation fodder, so we agree it wasn't awful. But there were posts on here that gave the impression we were that bad.

There's a hint of confirmation bias going on when the odd good win is not idiosyncratic but the odd bad defeat is. And that's fair enough, we're fans after all. But it seems unless someone posts dementedly in his favor, then that person is in a mythical Potch out camp. I suppose I could just say I don't want Potch out in every post.

But we're in general agreement, I think; Potch is a likeable guy doing a decent job and that's true after a brilliant win and an abysmal defeat.

one poor result and a large proportion of our "fans" revert to type! so painful and Spursie!

I hardly see anyone overreacting. I see people discussing problems which might explain why since beating Arsenal we didn't win once in the ensuing five matches, won two against weak sides who we just about let back into the game, and finally got plowed by a Man U side still unclear as to their identity. As such, I think questions are justifiably being asked.

Are you expecting answers?

dogshit performance, these people make more money in 3 days than the average bloke who pays to see them and this is how they perform.

they didnt look the slightest bit interested in the game and a lot of them were pulling out of 60/40 tackles let alone 50/50.

Good coaches can organise the team to defend properly see pulis at palace and West brom for evidence of this.
Everytime we step out onto the pitch i fear we will concede no matter who we play be it a champions league team or a conference side we constantly give cheap goals away.
If the management and team dont get a handle on this quick it will have an effect on team morale for the rest of the season, in fact it may already have.
I am not a fan of his and glad he has gone but under AVB, Dawson aside, we have vertually the same defence in lloris, Walker, Rose and Verts. Under him we were very hard to break down and were an organised and mean defence. So we do have the personnel who have proven they can do better, so what gives?

This is why we never make any long term progress! People scream about how we should be in the top 4 and playing great football with a team full of 50 million pound players and a manager from the top tier! No we shouldn't! Even the progress made under levy, which is astonishing by the way, is undermined by the constant whining of our fans!
there are 6 big clubs in the Prem; pool, scum, Chavs, Utd, city and us. All of whom spend the most money and are able to attract the best players to a greater or lesser degree! Yet we have managed to finish in the top 5 almost every year for close to a decade, finishing above all of our rivals with the exception of arsenal. In addition, we generally play good football, have a sprinkling of top quality players, and compete for cups. We make money, are building a new stadium and have been praised from all sides for much of the season.
yet you still get idiots who believe it isn't good enough. Unless we keep poch, give him time and support him and the players we will never be a top side!

We lost, we move on!

But MP's very own assessment of our squad last season was we should be challenging for the title,
and since then no-one has left who wasn't booted out.

I don't agree with him, but a club of our resources certainly should be pushing the top 4 harder,
especially when Manu and liverpool have had relatively poor seasons.

But hey - take 4 points off arsenal every year and I am fairly content.

Haven't read through thread so apologies if this has been said, but I think we should have played the way we played against Arsenal away earlier in the season. Poch did change the style then and it worked. We soaked up pressure and counter attacked effectively. I don't see why we couldn't change to that mid game if it looks like the opposition is getting on top. Poch could be forgiven for thinking that we could get at United, but once it became clear that wasn't going to happen he should have switched it and told the players to get behind the ball and be patient.
