I was just wondering if anybody else at the game Monday night was also at Old Trafford the last time we beat them by the same scoreline?

25 October 1989 League Cup Round 3

Link

On both occasions I was in with the Mancs trying my best not to crack a smile:)

I remember going with my Dad, brother, Dad's mate and his kids. They were all MU fans. I also remember Terry Fenwick breaking his leg trying to go through the back of Mark Hughes and that Gary Lineker and Nayim scored. Apologies Vinny!

I was sat there Monday night trying my best to blend in and keep a low profile, especially as the section I was sat in was full of season ticket holders. At half time I said to my missus I'll settle for a 0-0 right now as I won't have to mute any celebrations or pretend to be happy if we concede.

It was so difficult when the goals went in but I managed to do pretty well. I had to tell my missus to wind it in a bit though, Jesus wept

Our fans were superb all night. When they started singing you're getting sacked in the morning a young lad a few rows down from me joined in

We were leaving the ground when l heard a loud "Yid Army" as the Spurs fans were coming out. I felt bloody great. Half hour brisk walk back to the car. I sat inside and finally let all my emotion out !!!

An hour to drive home then I had a few beers watching the whole match again.

Set up is a bit weird in that the benches don't seem to be big enough to accommodate all the backroom staff. Ours were sat with the fans next to the tunnel. Lamela wasn't too pleased to be dragged back as he was halfway down the touchline. In fact he didn't look pleased all night sat with his hood up.

Mancs were having a right whinge at Poch for being outside of his technical area, naughty boy.

Felt a bit sorry for Fernando as he didn't stop warming up all night. Very flexible according to my missus. If anybody wants some good close up shots she has plenty!!

I was there last night. I knew we were going to win as my ticket was on the end of the row. Was also there when we won in the league cup as well. Woke up late and missed the train and game when Lineker got the winner.

I was there for the league cup game, nayim volley if I remember rightly?
Was only 11 at the time and was in the United paddock to the right of the goal with my father and next door neighbour. Standing only, we paid cash and got in early, but about 15 mins before kick off the area we were in got rammed. My dad asked Les (rip) to look after me and went over to speak with a steward. I remember watching him talk through the metal cage and then motion me over. Extremely puzzled I approached them both.'unzip your jacket' my old man said to which I naively yet proudly did to reveal my new home shirt with Holsten and the arrows on the arms. 'Jesus Christ' the steward spluttered. 'You can't stay in there!'
He then let us out of a gate and escorted us past the corner flag to the away end. All the Spurs fans cheered and the steward gave me a program with Gary mabbutts autograph inside!
What a great day

I was there in for the 4-1 win in 1972. Plus a couple of league defeats in the 1980's

My last visit to OT was the semi final v Newcastle in 1999. Grr.

One of the things I love about this forum is that whenever we beat/play a team that we either never beat or rarely play the old timers come in and give us the last time we played them, who scored etc and their recount of the matchday. Warms me cockles it does.

I was there, having spent most of my childhood watching us get walloped by them (Old Man has 2 season tickets for OT) so that was the only fare on offer once we moved to south Manchester in '78. Think i even missed the final goal from Samways (?) in the rush to get to the car-park!
EDIT - Favourite win there was the 2-1 under Sherwood - i was sat with the home fans (again) and when Ade jumped to head it in i think i jumped with him...Old Man likened it to a migrating salmon! Anyway, locals werent too happy as you imagine and tried to have me thrown out. Great memories.

Lucas was taking pictures with "fans" of the team he destroyed on Monday.
They don't strike me as the sort to be bothered about away fans in the home end.

It was probably all Tottenham fans that were still there at the final whistle.

i was right in line with the penalty box for the Lineker goal but missed the Nayim one in the rush to the car-park!
This was just before they got rid of Leighton (who was dreadful) and started to get their act together under Fergie IIRC.
