According to the Argentinian press:

The latest Premier and Champions' League champion have offered the massive sum to pay/activate the release clause of the Argentinian player.

The news was confirmed by José Seguí, one of the representatives of the ex-Independiente player, in talks with the spanish newspaper AS.

"I have received an offer from a big English club and they have asked me if I can transfer that offer to Atlético de Madrid. I can not say anymore until I have spoken with the club about the concrete offer. I can only say that it is one of the greatest teams in Europe and it is not Chelsea." clarified Seguí. Some hours later it emerged that the club in question was Manchester United.

The rest of the article goes on to say that Aguero turned down Chelsea and is going to the Olympics.

I'm bored of this. You make it sound like we're signing Berbatov from United. Berbatov is a Tottenham player and until it says otherwise on the official site that's the way it's staying.

Strictly speaking this should be in General Football, but it does have a bearing on us.

Isn't he too similar to Tevez? He alwys reminds me slighlty more skilfull version of him anyway. I can't see him being an alternative to Berba. I don't think they are after Aguero, but if they are then I'd see it as more likley Tevez leaves and it doesn't effect their pursuit of Berba.

I haven't seen alot of him but I always thought he was a Defoe type(but better obviously). When I saw a few Atletico Madrid games Forlan seemed to play the more withdrawn role of the two. But like I've said I haven't seen him play much

No he's not a Defoe type. Most of his best work comes from Teves like determined running with the ball, only he has more tricks and skill. He's not as quick as Defoe and has a far better all round game.

United could still play Aguero - Tevez (who I don't really rate) - Rooney up front. I know there is'nt a great deal of height between them but they don't really play a lot of high balls currently.
Aguero is some player and would be an excellent choice to replace Ronaldo,he is also young and well worth investing a lot of money in!
Lets hope they forget about Berbatov - too old and too much money!
