I would rather have Fazio right now. I don't really understand the hate towards him. We need a bit of experience and he did form a good relationship with Verts.
Some people put too much emphasis on speed, like it's a game of FIFA.

As a follow up to your point about Fazio - it's interesting to note that he hasn't been playing for Argentina at the Copa America. In fact he's hasn't even made the Argentina squad. Is this the sort of player we want as a significant part of our central defence? He's 28 years-old and should be at the peak of his game. And maybe he is at the peak of his game - but is this good enough for a Club that has Champions League aspirations?

I wonder whether Fazio was brought to Spurs as part of some other 'unseen' deal involving his agents and another player. There's so much money involved these days that a player agent can make a ton of money on domino-effect transfers. For example, Fazio joins Spurs, Michael Dawson leaves Spurs, Sevilla has to replace Fazio, etc.

It would be interesting to know which sports agency represents Fazio - and the names of other players, coaches that are handled by that agency. Can anyone provide a link?

The recent ITK comments saying that we're interested in Alderweireld may indeed herald the impending departure of Federico Fazio.

Time will tell...

Not only is Fazio slow (and he's REALLY slow) his decision-making is highly questionable. Have you noticed his passing? Apart from making passes that are intercepted he'll make a pass to a team-mate that will immediately put that player under pressure. So stats-wise it might look like he made a good pass but in reality that wouldn't be the case. Good partnership with Verts? Wasn't there an on-field incident where he and Vertonghen had a go at each other?

The Premier League is known as a League where speed is king. To keep this slow lug is asking for trouble.

Have to say I agree with both posts in that I agree that we may be judging a foreign player a little early in the league and that he did form a good solid partnership with Vertonghen.

I also worry that he made some Chiriches-like errors. He didn't dominate the aerial ball as he did in Spain and in fact many times looked out of his depth.

More to come, I hope but those hopes may be a tad optimistic.
