Thought they'd have problems fitting Dier into the team. Jan reverts to left back? Obviously it would have been discussed with the player. Personally I like our CH pairing, but it could happen.

I haven't seen much of him, but as he's at Barca I assume he's pretty good on the ball.

If so, that's probably why we're interested as Wimmer, to me, looks more like Toby replacement than a Jan replacement. I suspect Poch likes someone with a bit more culture at the back so that might be where Batra fits in.

We do have Dier who can fill that role, but we need him in midfield, and if Fazio is off I think there's a space for a centre back in the squad.

Weird policy of the moderator(s): this link is just a suggestion from Metro that Spurs should buy Bartra (not Batra) and it's not a "rumour"....while I got this link rumou deleted : http://metro.co.uk/2016/01/25/totte...-for-fc-sion-defender-pa-modou-jagne-5640596/ also linked in: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...injury-blow-club-line-deal-international-star and http://www.london24.com/sport/footb...tottenham_chase_premier_league_pair_1_4391273 and http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...eing-swoop-for-highly-rated-international-ace
Same site, Metro, and one is really a "rumour" (whatever that mean) while the other is just a "suggestion".
This is why I do indeed take piss of this transfer window as no matter what site it is almost all - with a very few exceptions - are just made up; one story worse than the other. So the claims that some sites are less rubbish than others make little and, at times, no sense :D One can't make sense of non-sense.
But I do like the transfer thread...

To be honest, 2 years ago when we were first linked to alderwerield, most Spurs fans had a similar opinion of Toby - slow, not good enough etc.

Turns out he's one of the best we've had.
Somewhat true as I was one of those who didn't want Alderweireld not because I thought he was slow or a bad defender, I just simply thought he was too similar to Vertonghen and we needed something different.

I feel very differently about Bartra who admittedly I've seen much less of than I saw Alderweireld. Bartra actually looks like a decently quick player, but I see him getting skinned way too often.
