I don’t think he’s saying that. What he’s saying is in the context of Spurs supporters using it it’s not so much a problem.

Personally I think whether something is offensive should depend on how you mean it, and everyone is free to think what they want and if you aren't offended by it then that's OK, and if someone is, then that's up to them too. However, Yid is generally considered to be a derogatory term nowadays. I know that some Jews use the word, and clearly so do a lot of Spurs fans (including myself), but I'm still aware (and I'm sure you are too really) that the vast majority of people consider it to be an offensive term. Whether or not that's fair is another debate, but that's just how "society" is etc. Therefore, I stand by my original point, that the statement in the article that yid is a derogatory word for a jewish person is generally speaking completely correct. As we've discussed, there are certain situations/intricacies in which it is not meant in that way, but their statement is still correct

b) Tried to defend it by saying something that was, if anything, even more offensive

Yes I clearly said something midly offensive as a joke and to be honest I didn't think people would get upset over it which is why I said the extra bit with the cautious smiley. I rather joke about what frankly is a stupid article than to get angry about it. Those that get offended by it are playing into their hands. Fuck them and their stupid outdated views which are clearly intended to get under our skins. So tempted to say foreskins there but I'm not even going there now

Come on man I'm not remotely upset otherwise why would I even be making such a joke? I guess it's just that I'm too thick skinned for my own good that I make silly jokes that in my own mind are harmless but others take offence to. That's the only reason I explained my post.
