Just think we could definitely use more versatility (and willing versatility) among the back 4. Rojo fits the bill.

Actually, since he joined Sporting CP (2012) he played always as cb!!! (only a game or two as LB to cover injuries and suspensions). By the way, according to the portuguese press there exists an agreement between Sporting and the fund that owns 75% of the economic rights of the player that forces Sporting to accept bids above 12M£...

I've said this like a thousand times. Sporting is the only club he played CB. He also prefers LB. He made his debut as a LWB. He was sold to Russia as a LB. He still is the starting LB for Argentina. He is a LB.
Just because he's been playing CB the last couple of seasons doesn't make him that. Mascherano has been playing CB, and he's still a DM, not a CB

Southampton have signed Bertrand on loan. So if they ARE buying Rojo he'll probably replace Lovren. Which would appear to make him a CB. Maybe!

I hope thats true because we dodge a bullet there. I would not sign this player he doesnt fit the bill we need for a CB.

Does anyone think he would come to back up Vertonghen? As long as Vertonghen is staying, Rojo made no sense to me - he is not a RCB.

Reports that Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Marcos Rojo. Would be ideal in back three, but Sporting want £30m plus.

People suggesting Rojo has £15m release, that can't be the case as they have rejected more than that already.

Rojo reportedly set to go strike to get move, soon find out what Sporting's stance is, expect them to dig in.

Marcos Rojo: Manchester United bid for Argentina defender
Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo has handed in a transfer request and told his club he wants to be allowed to join Manchester United.

United have submitted a £15.9m (20m Euro) offer for Rojo, 24, who played for Argentina in the World Cup final.

Sporting, runners-up in Portugal's Primeira Liga, are considering the bid.

United manager Louis van Gaal has been looking for a central defender following the summer departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.

Van Gaal missed out on Thomas Vermaelen last week after the Belgian opted to join Barcelona from Arsenal.

Rojo has informed the Portuguese side he will no longer train with them until the situation is resolved to his satisfaction.

Rojo in a back 3 sounds pretty damn good. I feel like he'd be a really good addition to what I would consider their very average CBs at current.

A friend of mine who mistakenly supports United seems to think he has signed for them for 17 mil, apparently that's what their ITK's are saying anyway. Very good signing if true and I must say I as hoping he would come to us.

They were saying on radio there is a 25% sell on clause with his former club, hence Sporting want 30 mill. Let's see how quickly this gets tied up.

Saying that, Woodward is clueless so will prob stump up without any negotiation!
