He was loaned out to Norwich City and Dutch club Excelsior and there is a concern that he feels he was not given the chances he deserved to become a first-team star.
Indeed, such is that concern that one source familiar with the player’s situation has claimed that he would much prefer a move to Arsenal.

It is not known if the Gunners have expressed an interest in securing his signature, but it suggests that there is a bad feeling lingering over Edwards’ departure.
It must be mentioned, though, that if Arsenal do decide to take a gamble on the former England U20 international, they will essentially be placing cash in the pockets of their bitter rivals, due to the aforementioned sell-on clause.

Wouldn't surprise me if he went to Arsenal. London club, he's mates with Nelson, has Willock there and Nketiah there. Seem to be getting a fair amount of chances between them.

Would be horrible to see.

Bare in mind that this is the Portuguese league we're talking about. We've seen many talented players coming over to England, France, Italy etc. and never quite made it. It's not the same tempo and physical play as it is i.e. Premier League.

Edit; why is this thread in the loan watch thread?

I know. I think I've said that before. We bought Fernandes from there though so people clearly see it as a decent gauge to judge some players

Who exactly would Edwards have bad feelings towards? Poch and McDermott have gone. He can’t exactly blame Levy.

Just came to life vs Benfica. Almost scored a great goal, but rattled the crossbar.

He was being targeted at the start, also came close with a freekick. He's having a good game

If he cant take responsibility for his part in how things went and see that if the club are interested in bringing him back then they are wishing to make amends for their part in it then bollocks to him.

A few goals in the portuguese league doesn't change the fact his attitude not only at Spurs but also at Norwich is what lead to his treatment.

I can't be arsed to post them but people were raving about him in Portuguese on twitter, a lot of people saying he is on a completely different level for his team and anticipate him moving on to a bigger club. Or that the club don't deserve him.

As I say if he fulfils his potential England have a surplus of talent in their ranks

Would be an interesting question as to where he would fit. Then again, if he continues with his development he could force his way in. I do feel however we are over-reacting. He probably could do with playing with better player's, but then maybe another year with the same coach in a settled team could be good for him too.

We seem to be consistently linked to him coming back by the Portuguese press, just whether they're assuming we'll try and buy him back due to the sell-on clause or Mourinho and his contacts over there think he would be interested in coming in to play under him now Poch and McDermott are gone.

Over reacting about what? He is playing well at the moment for an average club in a decent league. He needs to pick his next move carefully, stay consistent and keep developing. If he fulfils his potential he would be a top class talent and would contribute to the big talent pool England should have in the next few years.
