Thanks.

Hugely disappointing but, for Marcus Edward's sake I hope this move brings him closer to realising his potential.

The problem with ME and players of his talent and generation is that when they start at the top and don't 'make it' it can be a tough road to stay in the game. Ravel Morrison is a prime example.

These players make huge sums as teenagers and can only see themselves playing in the first team in the PL and so do the people around them. Becoming a journeyman professional is not for them. It is hard to go down a level or two once you have been at a top club.

The moves for Edwards, Nkoudou and to a degree Jansen may be the last chances for them to demonstrate they belong at the top level. Yes, they have talent, but that is no longer enough.

I coached against ME a few years back and he was on 10 times what our players were on at the time. One just got his move to the big time. Their careers are now going in opposite directions. One worked up the ladder. The other is sliding down it.

I have been in the game a long time and there are more Marcus Edwards than there are Dele Allis. One of the best players I ever got the chance to play with was a kid called Andy Ansah. Should have made it big, but spent more time talking about when Spurs or Arsenal were going to sign him than actually putting in the work to make it happen.

I doubt we will see either in a Spurs shirt again.

He made his name as the Assistant Manager of Harchester United, I'll have you know

No he is just a young footballer. Anyone's disappointment because he hasn't lived up to their expectations is down to them.
''Mauricio Pochettino says Tottenham teenager Marcus Edwards reminds him of a young Lionel Messi but insists the winger has a long way to go to fulfil his potential.''

My statement was a reflection of this statement and though it's only part of the story is correct in what I was trying to say. I think MP is likely to regret that statement as he probably feels it didn't help Edward's.

Sometimes...

I think that's the issue with youth today.

It still hasn't clicked in them that if you want to be successful, u need to put in hard work and have the discipline to give a sh*t about what you are doing.

too many "success" stories of people on TV/YouTube etc who just did what they like, how they like and they are famous and making huge sums of money.

anyway...

All the best Marcus, you had so much promise, i hope Germany treats you well.

An error, but hardly the reason Marcus Edwards hasn't yet fulfilled his potential.

Being a successful professional football player is also about growing up as a person, which you can argue doesn't happen as easily for footballers due to their sheltered upbringing. For whatever reason, Marcus Edwards hasn't done this in line with the expectations of Pochettino and his coaching staff and as such has had to do this at other clubs.

But things may still click for him to have a great career, we all hope.
