Having been burnt too many times with the likes of Andy Turner, Owen Price (the next Beckham), Terry Dixon etc not every very highly rated youngster fulfils their potential. I hope this lad is the next Messi, I really do. But let's not expect too much too soon.

Our academy was fairly shite in those days, plenty of good players got wasted because of a lack of joined up thinking. That’s not to say it’s perfect now, but in a different league to times of yore.

Alasdair Gold on Twitter: “No Marcus Edwards for Norwich today. He still hasn't shaken off a minor back injury he's had since around Christmas time.”

Said before surprised Norwich have done the deal. Would have thought they want players that can come straight in. Anyways for me Edwards is the real deal. Remember watching those England games in the Summer. He came on as sub into a high quality England team that was struggling and twice single handily changed the game with moments of magic. I think he is that rare player that can do something special out of nothing.

Norwich manager Daniel Farke has said loanee Marcus Edwards needs to work on a 'grown up attitude' and add to the defensive side of the game - according to @jackrosser_ on twitter. Not sure if this is an accurate quote but a bit concerning if true?

Poch said something similar last week, “it’s time for him to act like a man” or something similar. Pretty clear that he needs to grow up or he’ll end up slipping down the leagues.

Think this is the main reason both him and onomah have had limited opportunities in the first team. They have to learn skill alone will not get them by. Not when clubs have the pick of players around the world to choose from.

Have there been reports previously about attitude problems with him?
There’s no suggestion of him being a wrong ‘un or anything. I think the received wisdom is his family is fairly good too.

It’s just you can’t rely on pure talent to make it in the PL, you have to work at least as hard, if not twice as hard as the senior squad.

Is that Farke? He seems bright and considerate.

Sounds like both clubs are pushing Marcus in the right direction- that is to take greater responsibility for his own development and admitting to and addressing his weaknesses.
