This loan at Norwich will be invaluable if it helps the penny finally drop with Marcus. He probably felt he should be playing more with us and that his natural ability means he should play. Taarabt was similar, but it took him until this season at Genoa (aged 28) for him suddenly to realise he needs to live and train properly, and then earn his place in the side though application and team work. If Edwards cannot get into a Championship side that just sold it's best playmaker (Pritchard - who incidentally was in the older age group and Edwards grew up with), then hopefully he will realise it's not just Poch being a hard arse on him, but him not being judged to be a good enough asset to the wider team.

Any of our youth who've seen Kane go out on loan to Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester but think that's beneath them doesn't have the right attitude to make it with us.

I would go further and drop the last two words...

he wasn't with our first team before going and contrary to hercules' info, norwich haven't paid anything to take him.

Is there a rule that says you can't pay another club for a loan player if they haven't played in the first team?

Out of interest, how do you know that?

daniel farke literally said that there's no financial responsibility on norwich's part when he signed.

not that i'm aware of, plus edwards has played for our first team, albeit briefly.

the reason clubs demand loan fees for young players isn't usually down to the financial benefit but to ensure that the club taking the player is committed to actually playing them, all too often clubs just like to get loan players in purely to make up the numbers. spurs had multiple offers for edwards but decided to send him to norwich with no financial return, i don't think this has ever been a straight forward loan(like with ccv and onomah where it's just about getting some game time.

You're probably right, and could well have been a good will gesture due to our interest in Maddison. It's encouraging though that Norwich have said he has trained a lot better last week and that he was included in the match day squad. You never know they may have deliberately not brought him on just to see how he reacted.

There are other reasons that they get a loan fee, firstly because they can but also to cover player amortisation in the financials.

He got 6 mins against Fulham on Friday. No info on how that went and their injury situation but hopefully he's shown enough in training to get those mins and can kick on from here

Unused sub yesterday. Seems a bit pointless.

Does it though? The kid probably thinks he's good enough to break through and Poch disagrees, saying he needs to up his work rate and improve his attitude. That he drops down to Norwich and gets the same message is a good thing in my eyes. It's either a wake up call for him or proof he's going to struggle to reach any of his huge potential...

Surprised people think this loan has been pointless.

He's gone from a point when he joined them where their manager said he wasn't mature enough to be involved to a point where he obviously is now, that's a big bit of progress and hopefully he can get some more minutes now their season is kind of over.

Farke said he's had the right attitude in training recently so deserved his chance the other day, which i guess means he's been working hard enough off the ball which is exactly what he'll need to do to get a chance with us in the future.

On the contrary, I think a loan like this could make or break a young person's career. In the case of Edwards Poch implied that he was too entitled and is used to been given things handed to him, it's very much about maturing as a person as it is for playing football so this loan if anything should make him realise that he needs to fight sometimes when things aren't going his way.

Would be good if he got some minutes though but if he's making the bench when he previously wasn't then that's a good sign.

What would be great if norwich asked for him on loan next season. We have to remember he is still young.

Tbh I wouldn’t take to much notice of Farke judgement. Fans think he is completely clueless. Be lucky to hang on to his job.
