He most certainly does, and I also think the OP is bloody silly. So is B-C's nonsense.
Why is it 'silly' I purely put the question out as to weather people would want him back IF Harry were to leave, not a totally unreasonable suggestion as he actually did rather well for us. Not that I particularly want him back as I think there are indeed better managers out there nor do I want Redknapp to leave any time soon!

Also yes by all means we should be singing for Harry especially after his operation and when he is back I hope we sing his name for the whole game, however it can't be denied that Martin Jol did a decent job for our club, brought us some exciting times and showed a true appreciation for the club, it's history and values, the way we dismissed him was appalling and for a one-off game where he is the opposing manager why not sing the name of a guy who gave a lot for our club and should be remembered and respected for that much like we cheer a great deal of former players.

Most of the people sang the Martin Jol song today and then followed it up with Harry Redknapps Blue and White Army. I joined in. I liked the fella and do not see how it was disrespectful. Makes me laugh that you say "I didn't go mainly for that reason.". How about going to support your team?

because it would of been far more appropriate to be singing in the main for Harry today...

I'm no Harry lover but I agree with you here, Spurs_Bear. I'm glad Redknapp wasn't there for it. I think it's embarrassing.

I am sure there was singing for Redknapp also.
Disagree that it is 'fucking disgusting', the fans are just appreciating a manager with whom a great deal of Spurs fans grew to have a great rapport with, singing for Jol on one of the only 2 occasions this season where it is possible for him to appreciate the gesture just happened to unfortunately co-inside with a time when our current manager had a fairly serious operation. The chants for Martin Jol were no way disrespectful to Redknapp, it's a different scenario and even if he was there I think as a football man who understands the relationship which managers and players can have with fans he would have not been upset.

More appropriate perhaps...wrong to sing in a positive manner to Martin Jol also, no. You have a very black and white view on this.

I heard plenty of Harry Redknapp's blue and white army along with the BMJ song. Don't see what all the fuss is about.

He won nothing for us and left us in the relegation zone. But he had a great rapport with the fans. Let's bring him back.

He won us nothing? True he only won us the peace cup but we got so much more than winning a particular trophy

Left us near relegation? You're having a laugh, we were 5th two seasons running and on track for the same or better when he was sacked

Sadly I think it's the usual nonsense of people judging a manager on their results rather than judging them on what they did with what they had to work with. No doubt most of you thought Avram Grant was an amazing manager at Chelsea but a shit one at Portsmouth. You have to separate the manager from the players at their disposal.

Jol had a bunch of better than average players and have them playing like they could beat anyone. We were flying for the first time since the premiership started. Now we have some of the best players we've ever had and we're scraping wins. I'm sure if Jol was our manager now and Harry had been our manager during Jols reign the same people would be attributing the success to Jol

We went from an embarrassing mess to winning by 5 or 6 goals. We went from not even thinking about europe to being in Europe for the first time in 15 years. It was a truly amazing feat. If it weren't for Jol (and Comelli) we wouldn't have players like Bale or Modric or VDV now. It's such a pity because most people recognised that at the time but I suppose memories are short and people forget how unambitious we were through most of the 90's and up until Jol came. It's almost as if people think that Harry really did take us from Bottom to top 4

Playing like they could beat anyone, my bollocks. It took for Redknapp to come along for us to beat the big boys.

We were going tits up when Jol got the boot. It's like we're so ashamed about the manner of his sacking that we've forgotten what a sorry state we were in.

I've warmed to you as a poster Jonathan, but this isn't a good post.

He tranformed the attitude and mentality of the club. We're still benefitting from it now. Not a great manager, but he made a huge difference to this club, and returned some much needed confidence.

He won the club a new sense of self-belief, which in my humble opinion is worth far more than the ocassional random trophy. He started paving the road to our current teram, and I will never forget that.

You're just wrong. If I coud be bothered to bring up the records to show how wrong you are I would. But Spurs v Chelsea Nov 5th 2007(?) springs to mind.

Like I said earlier, he needed to be sacked. But he was far from shit, and had a massive influence on our current team. If you don't realise that (and I hope/assume I'm wrong) you really don't know as much about football as you think you do.

Fair enough, Spurger King. I don't like Harry but I think he's more deserving of this goo than Jol.

It's a pity we don't wank ourselves silly at the sight of Adebayor in a Spurs shirt instead.

The rest of the paragraph answers this, doesn't it?

And please don't lecture me on what Martin Jol did, or the way in which he was undermined.

If it's a straight fight between Jol and Harry..it's Harry every time.

Adebayor was so poor, I had to resort to wanking over the ref.

I think Adebayor is the dog's bollocks, Spurger King. I thought he had a very good first half, slack in the second.

I think that Chelsea game was five years ago and I had not forgotten about it. I was commenting on our record against the Big 4. The Martin Jol wankfest makes me cringe. I don't want to get drawn into one of those debates that goes around in circles for days.

I thought Modric was like the Emperor's New Clothes today.

I used to love losing 2-0 leads under jol, 90 th minute winners for the opposition and winning over arsenal at least once a season. I also loved starting the season so well......

And, and...and then Jol and Harry Potter jumped on a broom stick flew over to Narnia and had an orgy with Wonder Woman. The end.

The sad fact is that because Arry once managed Wham, he will never be accepted by some Spurs fans. Surely the fact that a recent thread mentioned his name in the same sentence as Sir Bill, shows what where he has taken the club. Surely the respect and affection with which the players talk about him, shows that whatever happens on the pitch is largely down to Arry's influence. Sure we got two 5th places while BMJ was the manager, but it's equally true that we got two 5th places while Comolli was DoF. Given BMJ had bugger all to do with player acquisition, how can posters claim that he "laid the foundations for Arry's success?".

It's embarrassing that some of our fans fail to show Arry the same respect that our players and his peers do. He's surely earned enough money in his career to have a comfortable retirement, but instead drives a 5 hour round trip to work every day. How many of us would do that?

It sometimes feels like the world is degenerating into some sad X-Factor popularity contest.
