Massimo Luongo and Grant Hall have joined League One side Swindon Town on for the 2013-14 season. More here - http://bit.ly/10xlMMK

Shame its not a Championship loan for Luongo - Ipswich fans say he did well there despite the loan being terminaed early as Ipswich decided that the overall team was too young/inexperienced causing the manager to lose his job and a number of experienced players brought in on loan.

Wonder if there is a Christmas break clause which might allow Spurs to give Luongo a Championship loan for 2nd half of the season.

Anyway, good luck to both lads.

Luongo doesn't make sense and even stranger they have been linked with Pritchard, it is clear we are trying to form a link between the clubs

Was thinking the same about the league. Think a good few of our U-21 team would benefit from being in the Championship, and would be at a level to aid most teams. Would like to see Pritchrd, Kane and maybe Smith and Carroll at least at a top Championship team, though I'd imagine a couple of them could secure Premier League loans. Same with Obika.

Disappointed in this loan for Luongo tbh. He should be playing in the Championship at this stage. Last season was of an unfortunately stop-start nature for him but he was arguably the best performer amongst our youngsters throughout 11-12. He's a very good all-round midfielder. Indeed I wouldn't have minded keeping him in our squad for the season. I know some would disagree with that but I believe that if given the chance at the right level he'd prove himself to be already considerably better than Livermore. Would be well suited to the kind of 433 that we look to be transitioning towards as well.

As SI mentions, hopefully we've inserted a clause that will allow us to send him elsewhere in Jan should he excel at Swindon (which I expect he will).

If swindon play a similar style to spurs (ferdy or tim new manager?), with all the spurs boys there and the fact they will start week in week out, i think this will be excellent for them.

There will be something in the deal that would let us recall them if we needed.
Butit does look like we are happy for them to be there for the season, and not half a season and review

Anyway, good luck to them

Swindon Town with Hall, Mason, Pritchard and Luongo are 1-0 down against Peterborough.

But any of those four should play one league higher.

Well combined they probably shouldn't be one nill down then. Archibald-Henville, Kasim and Barthram on Swindon bench.

On the losing side, but seems Swindon fans were happy enough with the performance, with Luongo and Mason having done particularly well.

Problem seems to be the lack of a decent striker. Don't think we can loan them anyone else, but maybe we could let them have Obika or Lancaster at a knock down price, just so that our loanees get to play in a successful side...

Peterborough in fairness will be up there this season so it wasn't really unexpected.

Swindon fan match rating.

Hello girls, bet you have had fun whining over the break
wink.gif

Saw Sy ask for ratings so:
Fods. 7 never had much do to, what he did have to he did well.
NT. 6. Dodgy 1st half, where their 23 I think ripped him. for some reason they swapped him over and Nathan did far batter 2nd half
Smith. 7. Started a bit shaky but grew into the game, I though he looked pretty good.
Hall. 6. Started like stevie wonder, pity the lad though as it was chop him and red card, or let him fire over for the goal, unfortunately it went in, got better though and looked good 2nd half.
Ward. 7.5. Didn't know he could do that(pass) as well as defend, class act.
Luongo. 8. Star man, always knew what to do with the ball.
Mason. 7. very quiet 1st half, but grew into the game , and sooo unlucky with the crossbar effort.
Pritchard. 6.5. Anonymous 1st half, but looked very tricky and clever 2nd, He'll be good no doubt on that.
Tijane. 7.5. Possible Portugese Pele in the making.
Harley. 6. Shockingly didn't recognise him until 2nd half, once I did he put some nice passes away, did ok.
Williams 6. Hard job for him and he struggled 1st half, as I doubt he's done lone striker before, 2nd half seemed to get the gist of it, and played better. Should have scored though Imo when his head seemed to go into his shoulders, with the goal gaping!.

In summary, we played some nice stuff, and were unlucky not to get at least a point, however, I thought at 3.10 after they scored, we wouldn't, and was proved right. That will come and we have many easier games on paper coming up, and I fully expect us to be top half on that showing.

Pritchards got a dead leg and is missing, not sure on Mason. Luongo scored a 25 yarder, cracking goal apparently.

Yaser Kasim is also playing for Swindon. We released him a couple of years ago and he signed for them this summer via Brighton (I think). Yet another link to us.

Loads of links there besides loan players (Luongo, Hall, Pritchard, Mason), they've quite a few Spurs youth products in Kasim, Arcibald-Henville, Barthram and Byrne.

Yeah knew about the others bar Kasim. Go to a few Swindon games as my Dads a big fan. Lee Power's just been announced as a director and he's been doing a lot of work behind the scenes. Used to play for Norwich years ago and he's the one who's in contact with Sherwood (played in the same Norwich team) to get this link going. Swindon fans by and large are happy with the link up. Very split on their opinions on Bostock though! All the talent, yet just doesn't apply himself as well as he could do.
