Looks like the rumours of Massimo Luongo to Ipswich on a season loan is true.

Shame as I was hoping to see him in Europa League (but because he has not been at Spurs for long enough he could not be an u 21 but would ned to be one of squad of 25), but if he gets a good run of games at Ipswich that may be the better route. Of note is that Ipswich's Head of Academy, Terry Klug, has just re-joined after spending about 2 or 3 years at Spurs (he was driven out when Roy Keane was Ipswich manager) and will have seen Massimo Luongo at first hand, so hopfully Luongo has been thoroughly recommended..

Here's hoping he gets regular first team football.

Luongo can already dominate a midfield at academy level, imposing himself on the opposition and knitting the play together. If he can continue developing, and start doing this at Championship level, then we could have a player knocking on the first team door in the not so distant future.

Very important step for his development. If he can do well at championship level, in his first loan move, then it bodes well

MASSIMO NEW DEAL, IPSWICH LOAN

Posted 23 July 2012 5:49pm
Massimo Luongo has signed a new contract with the Club until 2014 and joins Ipswich Town on loan for the season.
The Australia midfielder joined us in January, 2011 and went on to make his First Team debut last season in our League Cup tie at Stoke City.

Yes. He certainly seems to be one of the young players the coaches seem to have high hopes for, even made the bench a couple of times. Hope he does well and we have ourselves a bright young thing for the CM in a yr or so.

Report:

http://www.greenun24.co.uk/ipswich-...ewell_delighted_with_massimo_luongo_1_1459813

"PAUL Jewell was pleased with Ipswich Town’s 2-0 win over Cambridge United – and singled out new loan signing Massimo Luongo for particular praise.

The Spurs loanee played a holding midfield role in a new-look diamond system and excelled for Town, especially in the first half, looking nice and sharp and with some decent ball retention.
Jewell said: “Although you want to win at everything you do, results at this stage of the season really aren’t that important.
“This was a big improvement on Holland and I was particularly pleased with young Massimo who I thought was outstanding.
“He trained with us for the first time yesterday but has settled in and although I know it’s only a pre-season friendly, I thought he showed great confidence for a 19-year-old.
“He looks a good footballer. There is that touch of quality about him.”
Two Michael Chopra goals proved the difference – the second a typically clinical strike – and Jewell was equally pleased with the form shown by his top marksman in these early pre-season games.
The Blues boss added: “He could have had six tonight. He has looked sharp pre-season. But there is still a long way to go.”

Played another friendly (90 mins) http://www.itfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10272~2863824,00.html

"
Massimo Luongo impressed again in another 90 minutes after joining on a season long loan from Tottenham last week"

He certainly seems intent on marking a mark.

A genuine question I would like to ask AVB, and it does involve Cheslea, would be how he rates our younglings in comparison to theirs - given that they stole Frank Arnesen because they can't have their own good ideas and they are still having to spend huge amounts of money and don't seem to have any young players that they feel they can trust.

Think they are good at buying players ($), don't think they are that good at developing players. Interesting that AVB didn't play mceachran that much as i though he was supposed to be quite good?
