Apologies if this a) sounds sexist or b) has been mentioned before.

But watching MoTD online now and there is a female commentator, Jacqui something, doing the Everton-Fulham game.
Listened to it for about 20 seconds, but then I just couldn't take it any more. Had to mute the laptop. When she gets excited she sounds like a pre-teenage boy, and it just doesn't work for me when I'm watching the footie highlights. I know it may seem sexist, but it just sounds, and feels, wrong.
I have nothing against female post-match interviewers and reporters (the station I worked for in Norway before I moved here had some very good female reporters), but it just feels wrong having a female commentator.

Does anyone agree with me or am I just coming across as a sexist, male-chauvinistic pig?

It wasn't necessarily the same one (though it's likely), but I have heard a female commentator before and it just didn't work. It sounded all wrong and was very off-putting. The same can be said for some of the lower-profile male commentators though, so I wouldn't want to say female commentating is bad as a rule.

She is fucking terrible. I wouldn't mind it being a woman, but one that sounds so fucking amateur is just shit. When describing a Niemi save she said how he had seen it all the way but was equal to it. It just sounded fucking dumb.

She should be killed.

We all know commentators spout shit - it is their living after all - but I agree whole-heartedly on this. There is a certain gravitas needed to be a succesful commentator. Remember, these voices must match the action in terms of the drama and importance as well as support the flow of the game. Nothing ruins it like an amatuer spouting innappropriate clichés whether they are male or female. In this case, she is utterly incompetent.

I'm with Madyidd on this one; off with her head. (or clothes).

Agreed, 100%.

As we've said whenever me and the boys have gone to Thailand, if it don't feel right, don't do it.

Note: In no way am I implying she is a ladyboy, just that it doesn't sound or feel right when she's commentating.

Shouldn't this be in the Mansion?

What do you mean there's no pictures of her in her undies? What the hell is this thread about? :snooty:

I've not had the chance to ever hear her, but my understanding is that she is bad not because she is a woman, but because, well, she's bad. Hence that can't be sexist.

As the gentleman rogue said above, you do need a certain gravitas to commentate. You wouldn't have a 12 year-old do it. Nor a camp-voiced man. And unless the woman has spunk (for want of a better word) then she just ain't going to sound right.

So, despite the fact I've never heard her, I see no problem in saying saying 'kill the bitch until she is dead.'

she is dogshit, not because she is a woman, just because she's a fucking shite commentator, I bet she's been watching football for about 10 seconds.

whenever she is on I always think of alan partridge in 'the day today'

"striker!!!!!" "that was liquid football"

Glad people are agreeing with me here.

Must admit I didn't really listen to what she was saying, I was more concerned with the way she sounded. But she didn't exactly show much knowledge or competence from the bits I heard.

But, honestly, I'd still rather have the worst male commentators out there than her.

Yeah, it definitely takes a certain kind of voice to be a good commentator. The guy on the radio earlier (BBC) is always OK, nothing more, until the final 5 minutes, when he has this way of making you shite yourself by commentating on everything as if it's a last minute one-on-one in the FA Cup final. Makes for edge of the seat stuff. The girlie just didn't have the balls (obviously) to do it. Her voice added nothing to the match. If anything, it made it worse.

Co-commentator for the Stoke vs Watford game earlier (for the first 15 minutes that I watched) had about as much football knowledge as a mole. Nothing more irritating that listening to some **** spouting shite like that.
