Robbo - 5. Almost always has to let in one long ranged shot in just for the sake of it.

Dawson - 5. Couldve done more for the 2nd goal.

Kaboul - 4. Only reason why he's got qa good reputation is that he's got footballing skills, but defending-wise, utterly crap.

Bale - 7.

Chimbo - 6.

Zokora - 7. Why people still slate him I dont know. Worked his socks off.

Steed - 7.5. Was our best player today.

Lennon - 5.5. What exactly does this guy do? MAkes darting runs, gets into good positions, then what? Nothing! Absolutely no meaningful contribution! Such poor end product. Even when he was not under pressure, he could not even put in a cross past Schmitz.

KEane - 7. Pity the red card. AGain one of our most committed players.

Bent - 6. Didnt do much but won his fair share of headers.

Berbs - 5. Poor today.

Defoe - 4. Offside man. Such a frustration to watch. Time to go methinks.

Think I pretty much agree with the original post. I was sure we would see Huddlestone or Boateng in midfield. I think the 4-3-3 idea was to get a goal or two in front early on (according to Poyet they were aiming for this) but that's simply not necessary, especially against a side as poor as Birmingham.

To be honest I've been pretty much at a loss for words since the game ended. I kindof wish we weren't on tv for a few weeks as I'm finding it really hard to watch Spurs at the moment, it's constantly depressing me and ruining my week!

I was at the game and I actually belive spurs played the second best preformance they have played all season (after wigan) we could of/should of won 3-1, and we were playing very fluent football throught the game. We desurved to win we just didn't have the luck, (even birmmingham admit they were luky)..........................................

basically we were robbed,

P.S. I believe that every player was committed in a game we dominated and I feel that putting their performance into ratings does not do them justice (in effort NOT in skill)

P.S(mark 2). Lennon was Brilliant (set up so many chances for the spurs)
and don't expect Robinson to save goals which no one else could save (Including Buffon), and STOP using him as a scape goat.

There are positives to take from this result,we now know for sure that we have shit defenders and they MUST be replaced. We need to buy a goalie,2 full -backs and 2 centre halfs, make them live together, sleep together, eat together and even have intercourse together.I really don't care what they do together as long as we do not let in anymore goals!

the TV announcer said Defoe was recovering from the flu. I hope thats true because he looked awful today. the two CBs were true to form. everyone else was okay.

Aaaaghgh, the pantomime that is spurs. We are like a west end farce. Funny but only in a painful ironic way.

I was going to question Ramos's tactics even if we won, honestly I swear. Didn't understand why he felt the need to expose an already frail defence by putting only Lennon, Malbranque and Zokora in front of it. Why he felt such outragiously attacking formation was needed against a side as poor as Birmingham. I also thought the taking off of Kaboul was a complete waste of a substitution and a very counterproductive thing to do. It was a very harsh penalty and apart from that Birmingham were offering very little threat and the last thing his confidence needed was to be subbed again unecessarily in such a one sided game. Some will say keane was great scoring goals but he and the rrest of the strikers were pretty shit all day long for me. It was Keane who lost a ball he never should have (bottler) that cost us the first goal and Berbatov losing a ball that cost us the third. In between they all contrived to waste chances and gave the ball away and chose wrong options several times. Yes he stuck his penalty away well and then scored after hitting huddlestones good pass into the ground. He also gave the ball away nedlessly before the lunge that got him sent off (which was a harsh decision).

But just to add to the panto, this was a ludicrously one sided game. I think we had something like 20 shots and 10 on target. Birmingham had 3 on target and scored all of them including the obligatory 35 yard screamer in injury time from a player who has never scored a goal before. Despite my tactical misgivings, I am still scratching my head as to how we managed to loose this game. On the other hand we're spurs - is any more explanation required. Ratings:

Robinson 5 - Three shots to save.0 for 3. I know none were his fault just wish he would be a hero just once and save something unsavable. Even the penalty seemed to go through his legs. Still don't see how I can mark him higher.

Chimbonda 6 - good footballer. Less than good defender.

Dawson 5 - Just makes defending the minimal amount of pressure seem like the hardest job in the world.

Kaboul 5 - I'm really not sure he's ever going to be good enough defesively but playing next to Dawson is never going to improve him.

Bale 7 - came out of the game with some credit. great going forward. Defensively still learning. Bad time (for us) to be learning (who's he learning from).

Lennon 7 - worked pretty hard and got on the ball plenty. Just needs to improve the end product but would be helped if our strikers were better getting on the end of things and offering options at times.

Zokora 6.5 - Did pretty much everything that was asked and started the comeback with a great run and through ball but loses marks for ducking under one cross that they should have scored fro and not getting in the way of the 3rd (I think).

Malbranque 7 - See Lennon.

Berbatov 5 - wasteful inpossession and in the box too many times. Sloppy for the 3rd goal.

Keane 5 - See above. This is the most enigmatic player I have ever seen. Was absoloutely shit until he scored. The irony of the day is that a player so scared to tackle gets sent off for a tackle.

Bent 5 - Too many cooks. One too many and it wasn't necessarily Bent but he paid as our 3 strikers struggled to figure out who does what and where.

Huddlestone 7 - Good ball for the second. did OK. didn't help the defence much though when it was needed.

Defoe - I can't be arsed to mark.

Personally I would have played 442 with the Prince in the middle and Berbatov and Bent up front. I didn't think I'd see a shitter side than Derby. These were, and we didn't have to play the Ardiles 4-1-5 to beat them. It still took massive slices of bad luck to draw never mind loose and we got just about every slice you can imagine. When will our luck change - possibly when we buy 3 new defenders and a goalie.
Sorry, young Aaron can't cross a ball to save his life, and lets be honest here, this little shit is paid £30,000 a week to get the ball in the air,yet he can't get it 3 feet off the ground.
Aaron its really simple put your foot under the ball and it will miraculously traject into the air over the nearest defender and into the path of our attackers!

I thought the tactics were right, we looked so well balanced and had many scoring attempts.

On the other side the individual errors, lack of tracking back, poor decision making and god awful refereeing decisions cost us again.

I must admit I was really positive at 0-1 we would win at least 3-1 and could never have guessed we would end up losing like that.

Villians for me include wasteful berbatov and bent, poor crossing lennon, Dawson (why do all his clearances find the opposition) Robinson (he cant dive i dont care what any1 says) and btw did any1 se the the save made by Lyons keeper last night? thats good goalkeeping..

Biggest villian of the piece referee Dowd for being an utterly incompetent cock!

I can't believe people are giving more marks for Berbatov than Bent? Bent won more in the air in the first half than Berbatov did all game. He linked the play really well. Set up Keano who should have finished. Nice touches around the box and good tracking back. People rating "fair" and "average" - he was our best striker in the first half without doubt. Shame he had to come off - if he'd have stayed on instead of ShiftAndShoot coming on then I think the result would have been different.

I agree with this. I said before the game in the Live Chat that I was very worried by our Line-up which was basically this:

----------------Robbo

Chimb---Dawson---Kaboul

----------------------------Bale
---------------Zokora

Lennon--------Malbranque

---------------Keane

----------Berb--------Bent

Yes I know it looks a mess but that's because it was, I know we created some chances but I think we need to try and be solid defensively right now and not try and win games 4-3. I have no problem with us playing Keane, Bent and Berb up front but there needs to be 3 solid central midfielders behind them.

Robbo 5 - Made 1 basic save.

Chimbo 6 - Didn't have much to do because they were so worried about Lennon. Wasn't good going forward yesterday.

Dawson 5 - Needs help. Wilting without an experienced head alongside.

Kaboul 4.5 - Clumsy, casual defending. Almost did what he did against West Ham again.

Bale 7.5 - Great going forward. Played in 2 positions yesterday LB + LW. Kept there 2 right sided players on the back foot so they rarely got forward. Was exposed once against De Ridder.

Lennon 7 - Great to see him going past players again. Put some good balls in that weren't attacked and put some poor balls in. Was a constant threat which meant they offered nothing on the right. Should of stayed on his feet against Ridgewell and cut inside. Would of had a great chance.

Zoko 7 - We were outnumbered in midfield yesterday but you wouldn't of known it because of the work put in my Zoko and Malbs. Good bursting run and an end product to boot! Looks a better CB then Dawson and Zoko and should start there until we get players back.

Malbs 7.5 - Was very clever in position. Rarely gave the ball away and turned himself brilliantly out of some positions. Would of like to have seen a couple of long range shots when he had the ball round there box. Looked very tired in the last 10 mins.

Berbs 5.5 - 1 very good chance and 2-3 half chances. Should of scored.

Keano 7 - 2 goals and a very very unlucky red card.

Bent 6 - Won almost everything in the air. Did the basic things good but never ran at there defender or did anything unexpected. Good chance missed.

Huddlestone 6.5 - Sublime pass for our goal. He's come on twice now and both times set up a goal within 10 minutes. He'd work really well with Bent's runs.

Defoe 5 - Did he really come on at half time? Anonymous.

Lee 6 - A dependable player.

Ramos 7 - When I saw the team sheet and saw our 3 midfielders against there 5 I thought he'd lost it. Amazingly worked well. Cannot be blamed for individual defensive errors or poor finishing.

Bent was linking up very very well with Berbs and Keane. He was subbed down to a thigh strain, and I think he has a big future at Spurs. Hes a Ramos type player and was a target for us in the first half.

Berbs on the other hand??????
