Berbatov was absolutely brilliant. Jenas was superb - missed an absolute sitter for a hat-trick in the first half. Lennon looked like a footballer again. Keane was Keane.

But, to sound a note of caution, the defence still looked shaky on the very few occasions Wigan went forward.

And, it simply must be said, Wigan were utter, utter shite. There are hardly words enough to describe how badly they played. When you're relying on Titfuck Bumble making desperate last-ditch tackles, you're in trouble.

We were great, though.

robbo - 6 - nothing to do
chimbonda - 8 - got forward brilliantly
kaboul - 7 - comfortable

jenas - 9 - mom
zokora - 7 - good. nearly scored!
steed - 6 - went off early
berbatov - 8 - great link up play
keane - 8 - very energetic - deserved his standing ovation

Berbatov mom without a shadow of doubt. Truely world class performance. 2 goals and an assist from Jenas, yet he doesn't come close.

I'd say it was a mixed bag, despite the scoreline. The back 4 looked shaky and I really hope we don't start with the same players against West Ham. The front 3 of Lennon, Keane and berbs were top class and supported magificently by JJ. Those 4 were the reason for the victory and the way we played. The others didn't show anything more than usual.

Robbo 6 nothing to do
Chimbonda 6 good going forward
Dawson 6 Not really challenged
Kaboul 6 Same as Daws
Lee 6 Steady, but doesn't make the most of possession in final 3rd
Steed 6.5 Doing well, but went off
JJ 9 Fantastic, scored and made so many passes and tried to make things happen
Zokora 6 Passenger and got caught in possession in dangerous positions
Lennon 8 Took goal superbly and showed committment
Keane 7.5 Lively and set up first brilliantly
Berbatov 9 A true maestro

Hmmm i guess its hard to be objective when revelling in such a victory after 2 months without winning a league game.

However, for what its worth I thought that Kaboul and Daws, whilst not perfect, dealt well with wigan's high balls and kept their chances to a minimum. Since its the international break now I'll prob end up downloading the full match to see how everyone did individually.

I'd still rather see Daws and Kabs together because stalteri offers nothing going forward. Chimbonda added a lot of width today and I thought he played very well.

Did you watch it via a stream? The stream i watched had Tony Gale commmentating. I hate him and think he is a biased pundit. But today his commentating, particuarly concerning our defence, was excellent and he pointed out a number of errors that perhaps the average fan wouldn't have noticed. I certainly wouldn't have noticed some of the stuff he was noticing and the replays showed he was spot on. I suppose he influenced my ratings for the defence, but I'm glad he did, as though I hate the guy, he was really good at pointing out the errors and mix ups between Daws, Kaboul and Chimbonda, that better teams would take advantage of.

I love marks out of 10. So utterly arbitrary and pointless. But even more amusing are the half marks. Just mark out of 20 if you must be that precise with your entirely subjective decision.

No, because out of 20 is alot more specific than what I wanted to be

I did watch via a stream but it wasnt the best quality and commmentary was chinese, so I admit I'm not in the best position to judge.

The most ridiculous thing about today was that a lifetime of supporting spurs meant that until we went 4-0 up I was completely on edge as I thought we might throw it away!!

I know what you mean and I'm normally very nervous right up until the final whistle, no matter what the score. But today I was pretty calm for most of the game, as Wigan offered absolutely nothing. My only slight concern was when Siberski came on, as I thought he might be able to get on to the end of the odd punt up field and cause us some problems. I always think any team with a good target man can score against us.

Its a vicious cycle. I'm pretty sure the players must have the same fear as the fans going through their heads and that makes us unable to hold on to a lead. Just look at the fulham game for example. I just hope that this game can be the start of something and Juande can do what Jol couldn't and give the lads their confidence back.

but when have you seen match ratings on a 20 mark? I'm used to 5.5 instead of 11

the point tickers is making is that when you choose a rating scale out of 10 its usually because want to pick marks from one of 10 increments.
