But, to be fair to Partizan, everytime a thread like this happens, many people give half marks. 11 out of 20 is no more precise than 5.5 out of 10.

Just got back from the game

Robbo - 6 - should have rolled it out a bit more but was confident.

Lee - 6 - the odd crap moment further up but defensively very sound. As ever. Mugged quite a few of their players.

Kaboul - 6/7 - His best game for us. Won a lot in the air.

Dawson - 4 - May seem very harsh but I´m sorry. Just looks like more and more of a donkey. Lost many of his aerial battles. Even his clearing headers don´t lack the power of old.

Chimbonda - 6 - some shaky moments early on but linked up well with Lennon and made some great interceptions.

Malbranque - 7 - did well when he was on.

Zokora - 5 - passing was patchy, diudn´t get many challenges in and left a hole in front of the defence twice or thrice. Nice run and shot at the end though

Jenas - 7/8 - Very good game. Should have had the hat-trick. Great breaking from deep and good harrying.

Lennon - 8/9 - Scored a great goal and repeatedly skinned the full back. But the reason he gets such a high mark was his tracking back. Best defensive performance I have ever seen from him.

Berbatov - 7 - looked like he cared. Great touches and really got involved in the first half.

Keane - 7 -Captain´s performance

Subs
Bent - 7 - 3 goals in 2 starts I make it:razz:
Defoe - 5 - not much time
Tainio - 5 - Positionally sound but mediocre execution

Crowd - 8 - We were up for it!

the point tickers is making is that when you choose a rating scale out of 10 its usually because want to pick marks from one of 10 increments.

I know what he means but if I wanted to be more specific (like I was), I'd still use the scale of 10

Just come back from the game

robbo - 7 - nothing to do BUT was very instrumental in setting up lennons goal with a great kick out to berba

chimbonda - 7 - nothing exceptional but looked better then usual

kaboul - 7 - I've just given him a 7. Played well but sometimes took an age to clear the ball and were getting blocked.

Dawson - 7 pretty much same as kaboul

lee - 6 average

Jenas 8 MOTM - Well taken second, set up bent, could hav got a hat-trick but was unlucky

Zokora - 6 I was dissapointed with zokora's passing but can't help thinking he was doing something right if JJ had so much room

steed - 6 - Looked goodd but when off after 50 mins

Lennon - 8 very good performance, gave kilbane a torrid time and scored an excvellent volley

keane - 7- Would be a 6 but he did so well for Jenas' first

Berbatov - 8 looked up for it today showing some excellent touches and movement

Tainio - 5- another poor showing

Defoe 6 - no real time to do anything

Bent 7 - purly for his goal which was very well taken

I think Bubble's got it just about right. Agree with Jenas' excellent performance. Kaboul did well, but looked like a liability once or twice by hanging on to the ball much too long. I'd also knock Zokora down to a 5.5 (or 11/20, depending on your preference)- he started ok and got steadily worse. He takes a ridiculous amount of touches unneccessarily, slows the game down, and seems to have no creativity whatsoever. Also, whilst his run and shot were impressive, if he'd laid it off to Berbs who had loads of space, we'd probably be looking at a 5-0 scoreline.

Just like to add:

Ramos: 8 - the team's playing with alot more positional awareness and a sense of tactics. He's turned lennon from a luxury winger into a useful midfielder in the space of about two weeks, and sorted out a central midfield blend. Yes, the opposition were crap, but it's very easy to see where alot of the work on the training field has gone, and its being implemented very well.

Read the first sentence again.....boy

Yep I've read the first sentence and don't think that changes anything.

If his attacking play hadn't got us those 2 first goals who knows how today might have ended up.

i didnt watch it but saw the goals and with all the feedbakc looks like this was just like when we playe Derby at home.

I think the importance is the confidence this should bring back into the side, regardless of the oppo and the fact titless bramble is a joke, I feel the comprehensive victory and a clean sheet ( 2 in a row wooooo!) is a great stepping stone.

watched it on a relatively poor stream but this was my take:

robbo - 6 - nothing to do
chimbonda - 8 - got forward brilliantly
kaboul - 7 - comfortable
dawson - 7 - ditto
lee - 7 - decent
lennon - 8 - getting back to his best
jenas - 9 - mom
zokora - 7 - good. nearly scored!
steed - 6 - went off early
berbatov - 8 - great link up play
keane - 8 - very energetic - deserved his standing ovation

bent - 8 - could have got 2
tainio - 6 - didnt do all that much
defoe - 6 - would have loved it if he had scored
I would also agree with that, seems like all the players were being allowed to express themselves, unlike the previous regime. If we improve like today over the coming months, I will be a very happy man. All the guys today seemed to up their games by 20%, they all looked better, fresher and more confident. I know it was Wigan, but it's a start.

7 is a high rating. This game against Wigan doesn't make him "worldclass" does it?

We had one "worldclass" player on the pitch today - Berbatov!

Robbo- 6 Nothing to do apart from a simple save from a tame shot, his kicking was almost back to its best.
Chimbonda- 7 Solid, got forward well.
Lee- 6 Not really troubled, tried to get forward but didn't really produce.
Dawson-6 Not much to do, dealt with aerial threat of Sibierski and Bent.
Kaboul-7 Won his aerial battles, deserved his recall.
Lennon-8 Looking more and more dangerous, fantastic finish for the goal, could have had another late on.
Zokora- 7 Finally, him and Jenas looked able to compliment each other. Broke up play.
Jenas-8 Best performance of the season from JJ. Looks as if he has been working with Poyet, assisted the attacks well, defended well.
Malbranque- 6 Not as involved as Lennon, did well.
Berbatov- 8 Looked more and more like the player of last season.
Keane 7- Great assist for JJs second.

Bent-7 Looked more confident, got the type of service he thrives on for his goal-finished well.
Tainio- 6 Busy and hard working as usual.
Defoe- 6 Not long enough, seemed desperate to set up Bent rather than take a goal for himself.

I know it's no more precise, I was just pointing out the arbitrary silliness of the whole thing. I'd rather read some analysis of the game than someone's subjective mark out of 10 for each player.

You're a great example, Joey. I've read all your analysis in this thread, and taken it on board - you're always one of the posters worth listening to in Spurs Chat - but I couldn't give a shiny shite about the marks out of 10 you've given each player and I find it strange that anyone does.

I agree the match ratings are pointless and i don't normally give them for that reason. I only joined in today as the thread starter specifically asked for ratings as he missed the game.

Good first half, another clean sheet and a good result today

JJ-BERBS-LENNON-KEANE- 7/8

Still some poor defending especially at set plays. As bad as Wigan were they still had 2-3 very good chances and a better side would have taken them.

Looking better but still a long way to go to shake off this poor start.

I'm not sure why people are ranting and raving about Berbatov so much- perhaps he looked great on the streams or something? From WHL, he looked good but didn't contibute a whole lot. His touch is exquisite and his vision is brilliant- I'd say he's the most talented player in our squad, by a good margin. However, he spent alot of time whinging and standing with his hands on his hips. His pass for Jenas's second was good, as was his touch to set up Lennon, but he contributed nowhere near as much as Jenas (or maybe even Lennon, for that matter). You can't rate somebody highly just for being a great talent- otherwise Cronaldo would get a match rating of 10 every game...

According to my memory and the match report on Ceefax, they only had one shot on goal?!
