Depends if Poch wants him I suppose. Have we had ITK to say he does?

I'd be bloody amazed if he didn't. I suppose it's all about personal preference and he may not rate him.

But looking at skill set, positional ability and quality why wouldn't he want him.

Am I wrong, or do release clauses in Spain require the player themselves buying out their own contracts? If so, we would need to give Kovacic 44 mill for him to buy himself out. And as far as I know, we don’t pay that much upfront for any transfer.

I maybe wrong, but I seem to remember this from the Neymar saga.

Pretty sure that was just something PSG did to wriggle around FFP, no?

Maybe you’re right, but I think we talked about the same thing when we where buying Soldado, and head a release clause.

But anyway, a release clause would require the whole amount to be payed upfront, no?

I think there is a difference between a "release clause" and a "buyout clause". Buyout clauses are what Spanish clubs have to put in contracts and yeah, those are the ones the player himself has to pay. I'm pretty sure it does have to be paid in full too.
