I watch a bit of inter (they were the first team I loved - C4 back in the day).

Brozovic is talented but has been hugely inconsistent and there have been concerns about his attitude. He is a #8.

Kovacic has a far better attitude and whilst I haven’t seen much of him at Madrid, at inter he was gravy. Very disappointed to see him leave. Beautiful to watch and can play a number of different roles. Would be delighted to give him Minutes. Spurs fans will love him.

Luka mentored him too, both for Croatia and at Real Madrid.

We've been in for Kovacic since he was a teenager but never managed to secure a deal.

But he's been a bit-part player for three seasons at RM, and he'd need time to adapt to the pace of the PL. In terms of immediate impact, Grealish would probably be ready earlier than Kovacic.

Long term, Kovacic's potential is genuinely world class, so I'd be delighted if we sign him.

Said pretty much the same a few pages back. Kovacic would be my number one target this window, he is an excellent talent and has a lot of potential. Also he can play as an 8 or a 10. Physicaly speaking he is perfect for the PL and I'm very impressed how much he has upped his work rate since going to RM, which was always my worry at Inter.

Agree re Brozovic as well, he is capable of the sublime, some of his goals from outside the box are insane. But he often frustrates me and goes missing when it counts or overplays. He's a good player but I wouldn't particularly want him at spurs although he would be better then Gomes.

Still, Kovacic is well worth 45 mil imo.

It just makes too much sense. Absolute perfect fit.

Which is why it’s almost inevitably not going to happen. We don’t do perfect fits as ultimately they cost too much. Even if this guy was our only signing I’d be overjoyed.

Hard to read on Gards tweets, says kovacic, zaha and Grealish are realistic and in a seperate tweet with no names says we are close to deals.

I would build a church in Levy’s honour if he gets this done. And the church bells will bare his face upon their ends and will ring out each and every match day until the final syllable of time

I've been advocating the need for another attacking player all summer with the feeling that we can sign a solid if not spectacular midfielder due to money etc. For example Martial plus Gomes or something of that ilk.

Now with us seemingly getting more and more desperate in an attacking sense perhaps it's time to change tactic and just go all out for Kovacic whilst forgetting about another attacker. Use that money we were prepared to use on an attacker and combine it with the reserves for a midfielder and overpay for Kovacic.

In Harry's absence we can use Son and Lamela (like against Chelsea) but at the same time we'll have much more creativity. I'd still be happy with my original though but it does like we have pushed this beyond the limit and I'd rather do this then go buy a cheap attacking alternative.

I wouldn't read into it. I think Gards gets info but certainly isn't as close as others. I think those players are purely his dream list and what he believes to be attainable but it's clear to me that those aren't the players who are close.

Lamela could do a decent job as 9/ false 9

Think Lamela would do an even better job in a midfield 3 - always thought his finishing was pretty poor but tenacity and creativity is always top notch...

Anyway, on Kovacic I reckon we’ll be linked on deadline day and look to pull something off

I think he would too. He'd have the defenders on their toes, he's got great movement and his tenacity would make it hard for teams to play out from the back. Quite good in the air too. His finishing is a worry of course but he may be able to create space for others.

Agree about Lamela in an MF3- I’m glad we’re keeping him. His versatility, tenacity and passing are decent assets

Exactly- there are goals throughout the attacking fulcrum of this side

Marca says in the article that Real would look to get at least 50mill euros for him. Isn’t it something we could afford? Think the issue here is him actually being interested in coming to spurs
