Marca says in the article that Real would look to get at least 50mill euros for him. Isn’t it something we could afford? Think the issue here is him actually being interested in coming to spurs
He’d be mad not to- bias aside, we’re exactly the club he needs right now. We play fluid football when we’re at our best and he’d be given a shit load more opportunities than at RM. We have the double glamour of the capital and new stadium, a manager that makes hard working, technically good players better and we’re a young squad. He could get 5-8 years of seriously good football with us

I'm confident if Levy doesn't lowball the salary offer that Kovacic would come to Spurs.

His mentor, Luka, developed tremendously and proved he could play at the highest level during his time with us.

Kovacic has just spent three frustrating seasons at Real Madrid, where he has never started games regularly. If he went say to PSG, there''s no guarantee he'd play any more than he did at RM.

Spurs and our way of playing is an excellent fit for him, and he will know we've been after him since his Dinamo Zagreb days.

Don't think his wages are an issue either, if you do a quick google theyre a pretty reasonable figure that we could pretty easily match.

His salary shouldn't be an issue.

But we all know the history. Eg Levy allegedly lowballing Zaha first time round to such an extent that he & his agent walked away.

He'd also try to lowball RM on the fee to such an extent that they'd effectively put him on ignore.

You've just shattered my faith in ITK
I’ve come round to the idea that a class CM would make us more potent. We have Son, Moura, Eriksen, Lamela and Alli that can play as AMs. We only really need another WF if we’re planning on playing 433 for most games- which could be the case but I’d also expect to see line up with 3 CBs too, which suggests we won’t over rely on 433 either

Think Lamela would do an even better job in a midfield 3 - always thought his finishing was pretty poor but tenacity and creativity is always top notch...

Anyway, on Kovacic I reckon we’ll be linked on deadline day and look to pull something off
Eh? You’re writing in a thread which is created as we’ve been linked with him all window. It’s also been said we’ve been linked with and watched him for many seasons. Are you saying we’ll start trying with his agent and Real Madrid on deadline day?

But that's how we operate don't you know.

If we end up only signing one player this window, and at this point that is a distinct possibility, then I would want it to be this guy

Yep and I would actually say that it would be a very good window if we just signed him and no one else (although Grealish as an option for the same position would be nice).

Every other position in our team is well stocked except for CM.

Bias aside, despite all the positives about Spurs, we are Spurs at the end of the day and we don’t have a good reputation when it comes to winning things.

I know I know, we have a great project and all that stuff, but for some players who are used to other things, we are not appealing at all. Hope to be wrong, but he would definitely pick up City or other team like them over us because they are more competitive. We still have to prove we are more than a simple 3rd-or-4th-position team.

I don’t mean my opinion to create an argument or anything, it’s just that, an opinion, and trust me when I say I love this motherfucking team. Hope to be wrong, but think it’s too difficult to bring Kovacic and it’s not just about money

I would build a church in Levy’s honour if he gets this done. And the church bells will bare his face upon their ends and will ring out each and every match day until the final syllable of time

I have a feeling that Levy would appreciate a Synnagogue more than a church.

Also, if you’re into building things he would probably prefer you lent a hand in the stadium to keep costs down a bit.

As long as synagogues have bell ends, I’m fine with this

I think we could compete for his transfer, problem is, it's who you might be/are competing with.
