Kovacic would probably be my dream signing this summer. Like dtx said a few posts before, I am too not trying to get my hopes up on us getting him. But if Dembele is to leave, in my opinion, this guy is the ideal replacement. Already shown, he has the quality (I remember watching him at inter) and is still young enough to improve and grow under Poch.
I'm reallytrying to not get my hopes up .... done that far too many times down the years haha. Would love Kovacic and zaha/ martial... But that's only my 2 cent opinion and don't have a clue what will happen.

BOOOO.

This kind of sensible post is not welcome in here.

This thread has been taken over by Kovacic fan boys (me) that only want talk of him playing for Spurs.

Kind Regards
Oh I'm a big fan boy also, but have long ago learnt hope has no place in the transfer threads.

Pjanic is quality and would hate to see him at City. If it happens no doubt Kovacic ends up at Juve.

Pjanic still retains the vision & skill to distribute the ball accurately around the pitch which makes him a valuable asset.
But the knock I have against him is that I sense his engine isn't as strong anymore. Up against teams that retain possession & move the ball quickly negates him considerably (as it would anyone that has to defend for lengthy periods of time). It doesn't happen often with Juve but on those occasions that it does, it is quite evident.

Many may have noted the CL match against us. He looked utterly spent & frustrated by our tactics / style of play. His legs were gone until Allegri changed formation near the end which made the ultimate difference.

He'll be 30 soon but Modric has a few years on him & shows no signs of slowing down. Then again, Modric could be a freak of nature.

Hopefully Kovacic has a similar Croatian engine & can have it on display for us for many years to come.

So....I can't post it in the ITK thread cos A&C will be wearing my bollocks as earrings within minutes (yes he is into that kinda thing) but Gards posted an interesting tweet a few hours ago, I missed it and not aware of it making it on to here as yet.

Many have responded to it assuming it's Kovacic so posting in here seems the way to go:

I assume that's because Gards in an earlier tweet called Zaha, Grealish and Kovacic (+keeping Toby) realistic options.

The issue for Madrid with this valuation is that there are only so many clubs willing to pay north of 40m for him and they are all in the PL, and with the UK window closing on 9/8 Madrid will desperate to recoup that cash to put towards their mega star target.

Way back when the window opened Mr Hercules said we had a definite option on a European mid, available if required. Our doyen of ITK's suggested that would not happen until close to when the postman calls 'last orders'. With all due respect the pub will close for six months in a wee while, better shake a leg or a cheque book soon. Watch out for killer moths.

Not sure why a random Chelsea fan's opinion on Twitter matters?

And how are we a weird club when you have others that are run by oil tycoons, sultanas and so forth? Surely Chelsea being a fabricated club on the back of blood money are a weirder club than ours.

if we was in the running at all to sign him, I doubt he would be priced at 12/1 to come our way. not being funny but if there was any ITK in anyway on him, his price would be a lot shorter

hope after posting this, a few SC'ers have plumped money on him. he has now dropped to 6/1

So, Kovacic’s twitter has the no.23 after it.

Eriksen’s has changed to having a no.8 after it.

Therefore I predict that we will sign Kovacic, he will take the no23 shirt, while Eriksen takes our vacant no8 shirt.

And Zaha will take no9, Grealish no16.

Eriksen's has always been 8 hasn't it?
