Italian teams have won 3 CL in this period and reached 7 finals, that’s exactly the same amount as our all conquering PL teams
The decline of Serie A is always papered over by the success of Juventus. Aside from a freak Mourinho result with Inter the decline has continued.

Are we going to mention the ‘freak’ LFC & CFC results in this same conversation too about wins? Taking them ‘freak’ wins away the PL would only have 1 CL win to its name.

Yes Seria A doesn’t have the ‘who’s who’ of world football plying their trade in Italy anymore but to dismiss the league & their top teams is arrogant in the extreme. PL clubs have got a long way to go before being being considered the best teams in Europe....

Without Juventus then Serie would have achieved very little in the past 15 years. Had they not been relegated for match fixing it’s not unreasonable to think they would have longer streak than 7 titles on the spin.

The malaise has been there for a long time and without Juve they might have even dropped into the 3rd tier of leagues in terms co-efficients. The dominance of Juve further damages the world brand of Serie A because it’s a procession.

Any excuse, eh
EPL teams reached peak dominance in 2008. Not one of the 4 entrants were beaten by foreign opposition and Platini was looking at methods to curb the dominance.

The win by Chelsea by 2012 did not disguise the decline of the dominance of the EPL. As much a freak result as Inter.

TO be fair there aren’t many leagues that can tell a punter the scores 6 weeks in advance though

7 titles on the spin by cheating so no doubt they would have had more titles had they not been caught.

Not sure they’ve been done for match fixing since they were relegated 2006. They are simply better run and better equipped than some very average competition.

just my opinion but the club should have been wound down when they found out widespread match fixing had gone on. Scummy club

Everton target Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins and Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt

Everton want to sign the Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins, one of a number of players who cancelled his contract at the club this week, as well as the highly-rated young Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt.

The future of Martins, 23, part of Portugal’s World Cup squad, is unclear with such widespread unhappiness at Sporting but he is likely to be available this summer. He is one of the club’s key targets identified by Marcel Brands, the new sporting director, and manager Marco Silva, who have not yet added a new player to the squad.

There will be a lot of competition for Martins, especially if he is successful at freeing himself from his contract. There are a number of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur who have expressed an interest.

It will be the same with De Ligt, 18, a centre-back who has also been scouted by leading Premier League clubs including Manchester City and could potentially cost as much as £50 million if any of the big hitters are able to agree a deal for him.

De Ligt is now represented by the Dutch-Italian agent Mino Raiola who has a glittering roster of clients including Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The teenager was thrown into Holland’s qualifying campaign early in his career and struggled in their defeat to Bulgaria but impressed in the win over England in March.

As for City, they are expected to focus their efforts this summer on signing a winger and a holding midfielder.

Both targets are ambitious for Everton, and potentially expensive, but having played down the club’s power in the transfer market it indicates that Brands is prepared to compete for the best young players who may not get gametime at Champions League clubs. Earlier this month the newly appointed Dutchman, formerly at PSV Eindhoven, said that Everton may have to sell players to make room for signings in their budget

If Everton sign de Ligt I'll lol myself into a hysterical fit before pouring one out in memory of his potential.

Everton aren’t even close to this. With City and us sniffing around, they might as well look somewhere else

Pretty sure the 2 itk said we've received a 70m bid for him and Gold/herc said De ligt is looking very unlikely.
