Out of the two defenders Sanchez or De ligt we have the better. Imo Foyth is a similar type of ball playing CB but if the club feels we need another CB when we also have Dier who has that leadership quality...I feel we can use that money elsewhere
We really don't.. Sanchez has a good quality in his bravery..he'll throw his body in the way of blocking a shot..however relies on his pace to much..positionally dreadful doesn't anticipate danger.. De Ligt already reads the game better & has better defensive instincts.. Personally think he would better staying at Ajax or moving to Germany than moving to England.. Young players often have dips in form & english fans are unforgiven..in other countries fans accept young players will have consistently problems..
Now if De Ligt is going to be sold we'd have to throw our hat in the ring..one of the most natural defenders I've seen in years.. the only other young defender I'd rate higher is skrinniar at Inter but he's 22 &would cost a fortune & in time De ligt will surpass him.. I believe he's a once in a generation defender

Positional dreadful relies only on he's pace wow. We play a high line most of the time have you noticed whenever we play teams Sanchez is the designated marker/sweeper.

I think like Kane and Alli he's already being taken for granted.

Ajax rear them sensible. Wouldn’t be surprised to see an Ajax prospect reject City for us if he sees it as better for his development. De Ligt does seem that kind of kid too.
Eriksen did exactly that, although City are more attractive now than they were back then.

Fair enough. Just from what I have read about De Ligt suggests he is the real deal.

If true I would want us to sign him regardless of whether we currently need a centre back or not.

You're comparing a 21 year old with an 18 year old. Sanchez may be better now, but de Ligt is a better prospect imo.

Have you read what some people have said about a 21 year old Tottenham Hotspur defender playing his first season in EPL.

So would it be fair to compare Foyth with di Ligt

How do you know he'll be better than Sanchez.
You're underestimating Sanchez big time, he's played in South America for he's country in Holland and now England at the age of 21.

I like Sanchez a lot but De Ligt is better than him now. You could see it in the Europa league final against Utd last year. He was brilliant in that game, certainly the standout Ajax player and maybe the best player on the pitch, you could see he’s got it. He reads the game so well, aggressive when he needs to be, knows when to get tight and when to drop and he’s calm on the ball too.

I don't know how the future will be. And I don't know how good Sanchez was at 18. All I'm saying is that based on what I saw when they both played for Ajax, I would never have guessed that it was three years between them.

Additionally, de Ligt has captained Ajax at the age of 18. That's evidence of skills that simply cannot be taught.

How would that be fair? Foyth has a grand total of nine senior games in Argentina. De Ligt has 60 for Ajax, and is a year younger. He has five senior caps, and has played in a European final.
Foyth is a good prospect, but the two are beyond comparison.

I watched that game and Sanchez was clearly the better defender Di Ligt is good on the ball, Sanchez mind you isn't bad on the ball either but when it came down to pure defending I was far more impressed with Sanchez just my observations

Maybe we could loan Foyth to Ajax as part of a deal for De Ligt. Don't want to lose Foyth since I think he'll be top quality. He'll want to be playing regularly and Ajax would be a great place for him to develop.

Would Ajax be interested? I always thought they preferred to bring young players through their own system, with both them and the player knowing that they would probably sold on to a club in bigger a for a large fee that helped sustained the club. I don't see how Ajax would really gain anything from this.

I don’t see the point in that, personally. I also don’t think Foyth will be to keen either.

In the unlikely event he’d want to go to a third rate league (albeit to a good team) I wouldn’t be dead against it but I’d still rather he develops with us. Like you say, he’ll be top quality so better to keep him around the squad.

If they don't have anybody ready to step up they might be interested. Foyth will want to be playing regularly as well. Just seemed like an idea that might work for everybody.

Didn't they want to take one of our players on loan a couple of seasons ago? I'm sure there was some ITK about it.... possibly Tom Carroll.

Edit. just had a look and Carroll almost went there on loan when we signed Eriksen.
