BREAK: # Ajax has an oral agreement with Lisandro Magallán about a 5-year contract. End of the week negotiations with Boca Juniors

Ajax bringing in a Defender soon, presumably in anticipation of de Ligt going somewhere....

Pls can we not do this. I remember last summer every single forward player or full-back Fulham signed was apparently deffo because Sessegnon was leaving. Maybe Ajax just need a CB.

Pretty sure de Ligt has already said he wants out this summer, the destination is the only question.

So, yes, Ajax need a CB - to replace de Ligt....

The fact that they look to be getting one in early, suggests that de Ligt may also leave early. But, the timing is the only question - because de Ligt is leaving.

Are we sure he's going to cost more than Sanchez? It's still Ajax, they don't really need the money and he's 3 years younger than Davinson.

Simple supply and demand - we might be the smallest club in for de Ligt - which will drive his price up. Ideally its about the same price as Sanchez, maybe some more add-ons or a sell-on percentage.

The hard part for Levy will be that it seems de Ligt is represented by Raiola - which, may be what Poch fears also.

This is causing me to have flashbacks to just how much of a nightmare the Sanchez saga was. This guy's random updates ranging from right to way wrong, all the Ajax fans on this forum telling us we had to pay up as if any of us had any say on the transfer, trying to google translate supposed Ajax ITK nonces touting Madrid and Barca making late swoops that never happened... Good grief that was some top drawer crap. Hopefully if this pans out it is far more professional and smooth than that was.

Apparently they’ve been linked with this guy way before it became clear De Ligt is likely off. And has he spoken publicly?

He's not represented by Raiola, who represent Kluivert and seemingly working on a move for him, told a news paper that De Ligt also wants out - that's all i think...

So yeah i think De Ligt wants out...and i really hope it will be us, as we would have 2 of the brightest CB talents at the moment and an other gem in Foyth

This is football mate. Needing massive amounts of money and wanting massive amounts of money have no bearing on each other.

Link (in Dutch)

Matthijs de Ligt is being advised by Raiola. But I think he's strong and clever enough to decide his own future. This article also mentions reports from Spain that Frenkie de Jong has signed a deal with Barça to go there in the summer of 2019 (These have been refuted since).

But it specifically zooms in on the troubles facing the Ajax board. They are certainly not going to roll over and accomodate a speedy transfer for De Ligt or anyone else. Ultimately their hand may be forced by Player Power, but it's going to be a long hard struggle to prise him away...

Have checked an Ajax Forum and Dutch newspapers and this seems correct. Apparently, De Ligt made it known to the AJAX board he wants to leave. However, their manager was promised that key players like Onana, Neres, Frenkie De Jong and De Ligt will not be sold, although the newspaper rightly questions what will happen if Ajax are offered mega money...

Last summer, there was some ITK that we secured first refusal rights to at least one Ajax player, may have been Justin Kluivert but maybe, just maybe we have a framework with Ajax for de Ligt also

Out of the two defenders Sanchez or De ligt we have the better. Imo Foyth is a similar type of ball playing CB but if the club feels we need another CB when we also have Dier who has that leadership quality...I feel we can use that money elsewhere

I think Eric is seen much more as a defensive midfielder, which is his best position. I think he only plays centre back when we have a problem with injuries.

Saw this pop up on reddit. Not sure how much say Overmars has on transfers at Ajax but it doesn't bode well surely?
I don't think he likes how many young players are trying to push a move this summer when Ajax don't want to sell and are bumping up against their pride and history. Last summer with the Sanchez saga he made similar claims but ultimately took the money. This year though I think it might be similar to Monaco and those that get in early will get their target but anyone coming after will find the doors locked, bolted, and protected by armes guards.

I don't know about you, but I don't speak Dutch and I certainly can't read it, but what I make of that is that little gobshite Kluivert who refused to join us last season when we signed his team mate Sanchez (even though his club sold him to us as part of the same deal) has been having words with De Ligt about not joining us either.
