Man City's transfer madness has to stop. De Ligt, Jorginho and Mahrez? How can that continue to be allowed?
Other than the Galacticos (and they only really prioritised one huge marquee signing per summer), have a club ever continuously spent 200m a window like City are doing?.......and spending 50m plus per position!

It's ridiculous. No club has ever done this.

Cheers bubble (y)... The article states (Not in full) -

Mino Raiola and Pep Guardiola relationship means Spurs should fancy De Ligt hopes
Tottenham Hotspur shouldn't be worried about Man City's interest in Matthijs de Ligt.

It looks like Tottenham Hotspur could face competition for Matthijs de Ligt - and it's serious competition.
According to The Daily Mail, Manchester City have joined the race to sign the Tottenham target and Ajax centre-back, who is valued at around £50 million [Daily Mail].
However, De Ligt is now among Mino Raiola's star-studded stable of clients and the Italian agent's relationship - or lack of relationship - with City boss Pep Guardiola shouldn't be forgotten.
It was only March when Raiola called the Premier League-winning manager a "coward" and a "dog" for comments about Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The pair have been at loggerheads since 2010 for issues relating to Ibrahimovic's stint at Barcelona under the Spaniard, and The Independentsuggested earlier this year that Raiola would "send his players to other clubs rather than see the Manchester City boss benefit from their services
."

But would Raiola be dealing with Pep, or just Txiki Burgerstain?

Interesting and not an angle I had thought of. Sounds to me more like Raiola has been hired by Ajax rather than De Ligt from some of the things I've read. To me Guardiola wouldn't be dealing with Raiola at all as he is just negotiating the transfer rather than actually advising and representing the player.

I'm hoping this part of the article is also true, as it obviously helps us out if true ....

The Independent suggested earlier this year that Raiola would "send his players to other clubs rather than see the Manchester City boss benefit from their services."

I can't see Raiola not getting in the middle of this with the amount of cash being bandied about.

Honestly why does Ajax need 70million for him? I understand getting the most you can but they don't pay high wages, they don't sign players for any money, what the hell does an extra 20 million do for them?

If they can get 70m for him why would they not sell him for that amount? If someone offers 70m and ajax are happy with that offer the offer is accepted. What they do with the money is of no interest to the buying club.

Can anyone truly tell me that if we sold Toby and failed to bring in de Ligt or for that matter any other CB then it would be a complete disaster?

Sanchez, Vertonghen and Dier are high quality centre backs and Foyth is very promising.

May I ask some people this. How good would Foyth look if he played every game for Ajax last season? How much would he be worth?

For the kind of fee being mooted, it's still a big risk for a position where the need is not that great. If anything, all we need is a bit of experienced back up, if that.

Yes. It would be stupid.
Out of interest, why do you think it would be disastrous if we don't get de Ligt?

I can understand a little more if we didn't bring in a CB at all, but still we have three top centre backs already and one very promising one waiting in the wings.

Compared to CM, we are not desperately short of quality at all if Toby goes.

There's certainly an argument for experienced back up, and I wouldn't be totally against that. But are we really in dire need of spending £50m plus on a CB?

Having 4 CBs (two senior specialist CBs, one player who can play CB but doesn't want to, and one promising player) when you want to have the possibility of lining up 3 CBs on the pitch at the same time is a bit like asking out a beautiful woman on a dinner date and equipping your self with a tenner. You might be able to not go hungry, but you won't get the girl.

We need to strengthen both positions. Its not an either/or situation.

Who said Poch wants 3 CBs every game? He's favoured 4231 for most of this season. 3-5-2 creates more problems up the field too with the amount of attacking players we have on our books. We will not keep all of Son, Alli, Eriksen, Moura and Lamela happy playing with only 2 Ams imo. That's not including other players we could sign this window such as Martial. Davies has played in a back three for Wales and on the left of the three would be a viable option should Poch look to use that in the odd game if required.

The needs of the team have to come before any one individual for me. It's all very well Dier wanting to play CM, but he isn't good enough there and he's a far better centre back in my opinion. I think with Toby leaving it's a fantastic opportunity to give him some real responsibility at the back. On top of that he's got some good domestic and European experience under his belt, something that's needed at CB. This would also allow us room and extra funds to bring in a more progressive midfield player that most of us think we need.

If we were to get De Ligt and use Dier as a midfield player, then I think there's a glaring lack of experience too. If Vertonghen was injured, then Sanchez, Foyth and De Ligt would be very inexperienced especially for those big CL games. Who's going to lead? This is another reason why i'd favour Dier being moved back. I really don't think it's as crazy as it might sound.

Supporters just like new shiny signings. We have a very promising Argentinian U21 CB and I'd like for us to give him a good chance but like with all things If Poch feels we need to buy then fine.

I'd love also for Onomah and Winks to be given a real chance.

Winks has been given a real chance. I think a part of this a lot of us look over is Poch watching these guys every day in training. If Foyth and Onomah were lighting it up in training they would get more opportunities. I don't think Onomah is good enough at this level for what he has shown thus far.
