If we don’t get De Ligt I’d rather just move Dier back and develop Foyth rather than pay over the odds for a mid table tryer
I think Foyth can be a good CB for us, he just needs more games. He performed well when he was given starts in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. Furthermore, I think moving Dier to CB could be a good move, especially as Poch believes that CB better suits Dier in the long haul. Moving Dier to CB and developing Foyth is a much better option than bringing in Hegazi, Evans, etc...but a lot of that will likely also depend on what happens with Dembele, and Wanyama (in regards to Dier)

Hopefully De Ligt will end up with us, but I agree with many of you that the deal may not be done as quick as we all hope.

I'm sure I remember city wanting Eriksen the year before we got him and him insisting he didn't want to be playing a bit part so he waited for the right team. I think a lot of these Alax products have that mentality so maybe De Ligt will choose football over money too.

Normally I’d agree, but I think he would be pretty confident with his ability to be a starter for city in no time at all.
I’m pinning all my hope on the fact sounds like we have been sweet talking him for a while.

Mawson, Evans and Hegazi. Poch gets offered those instead of his first choice and he's got every right to rip up that contract and leave without shutting the door.

This alone won't free him from being bound by the conditions of that contract, however.

He’s not being offered those by levy though is he, it’s just the papers or agents adding our name to the story. Happens every transfer window. We get linked to hundreds of players we have zero interest in. Happens to all top clubs.

Also if a bigger club comes in offering the sort of money we can’t then what can we do?

Fortunately Poch understands this even if some of our whiny bitch fans don’t.

I think as quick as we hoped for most of us was last week

Really don’t see Sessegnon coming to us at all. And from all I’ve read de Ligt seems pretty unlikely too.

At least we have seen a lot of Mawson, we know what he can offer. And to my mind, it ain’t half bad. I think he is another “ good young prospect” and with good coaching could become a great defender. But then again who knows! They are all young, look and Bentley, Huddleston, Carroll, they all look like the next best thing when they are young, so it is just to hard to tell. Well I take some of that back, there were some, Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar, all very very good and proving themselves at a very young age. Point is it’s a crap shoot. So for me I don’t want to risk that kind of money on De Ligt, or Sessinon or any young star they are going to be looking for 75mil on. I would pay descent money and invest time and effort into a mawson, someone we can afford and I think is a good young prospect, but if he turns out to be another David Bentley, we haven’t pissed away a fortune. Let’s leave that to the City, United and Chelski’s of this world.

David Bentley wasn’t deemed to be a ‘risky, young prospect’. He was already proven to be a highly consistent performer in the Premier League, hence the large fee. He just didn’t replicate that level when he came to us.

Highly talented player who lacked the personal motivation to be the best he could be IMO.

Bentley was a good player but did not have to mental drive to fulfil his potential...it was actually a sad state in the end for him, he just drifted into the shadows

Or a Shearer to be on the end of his set-pieces and crosses, which was one thing the lad had absolute ability with & one of the reasons we signed him.

Can't wait to sign Walker-Phillips. Looks a cracking prospect.
