Ajax being very difficult. AUCTION!!!

Really fucking hope De Ligts comments about not wanting to go for the biggest wage along with his agents relationship with Pep will see him come our way.

Yeah, can see us being out but also see some posturing here. We've created a good relationship with Ajax over the years and now they're doing this to us so we're publicly saying see ya. If price comes back to reason with everyone backing down I could see us coming back. Keep in mind I don't think Barca could necessarily outspend us on a back up CB with their financial stuff going on plus just buying Mina.. This screams City all day.

As much as I really wanted de Ligt - the truth is we are better in the next 2-3 years if we sign Toby to an extension (and he stays healthy). And, if I am a player like Kane or Eriksen - I am looking at the next 2-3 years as the window of opportunity to win things with Spurs. I am sure they are not interested in a player who may not peak for another 5+ years.

The absolute worst case scenario is selling Toby, missing out on de Ligt, and then signing some journeyman CB to fill the spot. That inspires nobody.

History says that’s where we end up.

I hate to say it, I really do, but we’ve seen this movie before

Part of me is surprised we're still involved in trying to sign De Ligt.

His agent is Mino Raiola, the guy who allegedly made over £25 million as his cut in the deal that took Pogba from Juve to manure. That scale of payment to an agent is frankly obscene. Paying circa 25 per cent of a transfer fee to an agent is surely going to be increasingly scrutinized by financial authorities.

However, Raiola did call Pep "a dog, a coward". So perhaps Raiola will show he's a man of principle and turn down whatever massive wedge Shitty are offering to persuade De Ligt to go there.... ;)

Seems we won’t be getting our top targets this summer...

As long as we can do enough in the market and show enough ambition to appease Poch/Kane/Eriksen then I can get on board. At the moment it doesn’t seem that things are ffalling into place in line with the early very positive ITK for this window...

If Ajax are trying to auction him off his market must be bigger than just City, Juve and us then ...

This could also be tied into the news that Poch is going to trust Foyth more next season. Saw that on twitter via CalcioMercato

If the amount is quite a few million upwards of what we paid for Sanchez last season and he is 3 years older and was very highly rated then if this much is not enough for a CB who is 18 years old it begs the question as to what is if our bid was reputed to be in the region of £48m is not acceptable, he must be truly outstanding for that sort of money and upwards and we can't trade blows with City for long if they enter into a bidding war and keep upping the ante, unless he won't sign for them / agree personal terms.
