Couldn't agree more UNLESS Poch is absolutely done w/ Toby and doesnt want him around the club anymore, which could be the case. But a loan to purchase deal seems ideal either way, in my opinion.
i think he will be now hitting out on sky sports that not starting for us even thought fit was unjustified

We should be all over a one year loan back deal. Take the 25 for Toby next year, let Davinson continue to grow between the Belgian duo, and have Jan's successor not sitting on the bench all year and continuing to grow at Ajax. Once again it just makes too much sense.

I'd be all over this type of deal. It suits all parties as he does seem to be extremely highly rated. I think this would be a sensible deal for all if it can't happen this summer because of Tobys demands

He forgave Rose.
Has he forgiven rose ?? He was largely second choice to Davies last season even when he claimed to be fully fit I guess if Danny boy is still here next season then maybe rose has been given a second chance.

Was Rose ever actually fully fit last season? I think a player being healthy and up to Poch's fitness standards are two massively different things.

Unless we need the Toby money for De Ligt, or can’t budget for the additional wages of De Ligt whilst on loan

Wouldn't Ajax pay for his wages while on loan? I'm still not fully sure how those work exactly. Surely we could be able to handle De Ligt's salary on the books for a year while Toby is still here. The kid is only 18 and even doubling his salary from Ajax would be a very manageable number I would imagine.

I'm having a particularly annoyed day w/ Spurs - this guy is great example of great talent, targeted early by club, aware of high fee and still pursued this summer only to have gone quiet & looking unlikely. I will be the first to buy a De Ligt shirt if this deal comes off this summer to put my money where my mouth is but I just don't get it. How are we so unable to make things easy for ourselves while other clubs seem to? Liverpool for example, cant buy Keita last year so agree to (i think full buyout clause) and he arrives gift wrapped on first eligible day the next year. How do we seem so optimistic and then end up shocked by how difficult a deal is or pursue lesser options?

Liverpool bought Keita and VVD on the back of selling Coutinho, just like we bought 8 players when we sold Bale, but due to market prices have gone sillier. the reason we might of not fully committed to this deal is his price seems to of escalated more than we expected, and the Toby deal has gone quiet mainly due to what we want for him.

at the moment we aren't a club that can afford to go to far over our budget, especially if it means another important position Poch needs cover for can't be done because we over spend on others

the thing is the 30m difference would effect either this seasons dealings or next, and if it effects next seasons after a bad season, then it means not being able to buy the quality to turn it around

thought I saw earlier that Raiola was working for Ajax and de Ligts agent was someone else

Why would Ajax hire Raiola?

If any of our Dutch members can clarify the situation through local press, I'd be delighted to hear that Raiola is not de Ligt's agent.

But the press reports suggest that he is.

The buy-and-then-rent option has not yet been discussed by De Ligt with advisers Barry Hulshoff and Mino Raiola, De Telegraaf knows .

If 30 mil net spend is that big an issue for this club we aren't meant for the big time.

to be honest until the stadium is fully cleared of debt, and hopefully a few trophies then we will only ever be seen as BIG by our own supporters.

Here's some Italian googlish from June 25th when de Ligt was being tarted out to Juventus prior to their Ronaldo mega-deal, again suggesting Raiola is his agent.

-----------------------------------------

FREE TRADE AND DISPOSAL - De Ligt is in great demand by many important clubs, even top companies in Europe. Among the best young defense centers in the world, Matthijs through the agent Mino Raiola has already said yes to a possible transfer to Juventus: if Juve were to agree with Ajax, de Ligt would not expect Barcelona or other similar solutions but would fly more willingly to Turin. The problem is that his purchase remains linked to a sale today, Benatia is the major suspect (more than Rugani) . That's why de Ligt is a goal in stand-by, Juve waits for numerical reasons but does not give up on this pure talent. Knowing that at any moment you risk losing it. And Matthijs waits, his yes to Juve has already arrived, Raiola is at work. It will be a long summers for the defender of the future. With the Bianconeri at the window ...

Juve have already brought in Caldara from loan, signed a RB and obviously Ronaldo. I can't see them slinging out 50mil for anyone else at this point.

Sure. But that's not the point.

The point is that this is another press report, this time from Italy, suggesting Raiola is de Ligt's agent.

And that fundamentally changes both the economics and the long-term viability of any deal for de Ligt, as not only does Raiola take obscene amounts of money from transfers but also reguarly shunts his players from club to club.

Ah, my bad. I skimmed the article. Yeah that would certainly be concerning with Raiola.

Ah, my bad. I skimmed the article. Yeah that would certainly be concerning with Raiola.

Let's say by some miracle Ajax settle for the same transfer fee as Davinson, around £42 million. Raiola would then want paying, perhaps as much as £15-20 million judging by his Pogba cut, and I'm sure Ajax would insist we paid that cash. So the total deal rises to around £60m.

Let's say Levy agrees. De Ligt is potentially the best ball playing CB in the world but, as a pure defender, Jan, Toby and Davinson are all better at this stage. So de Ligt spends the next 2-3 seasons learning his defensive trade with us, making some John Stones-style errors. But that's OK because he's the CB of our future, for the next ten seasons, yeah?

I'd like to believet that. But Raiola's MO is to move his players every couple of seasons.

So, I'll be thrilled if someone produces evidence that Raiola is not de Ligt's agent. But if he is, any deal is now a much expensive and complicated prospect.
