Mauricio Pochettino cannot wait to return to 'my town' after we were drawn against Spanish giants Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League. We’ll play the La Liga champions, Dutch title-winners PSV Eindhoven and Italian giants Inter Milan home and away in Group B of the competition.

What ever happened to Spursking? Did he go out like BC, spitting venom or was he embarrassed by mixing his up and comings in Ligue 1 with La Liga?

Whenever I see "the La Liga", bits crumble off my teeth.

A bit like the "HIV virus".

Aaaaargh.

It’s because of the branding of it - trademarking ‘La Liga’ and then selling it to broadcasters as such means that it becomes an entity, a piece of intellectual property in its own right. Put another way, it’s no longer two words put together to mean ‘the league’, but a single entity with its own legal status and meaning.

So I understand why journos sometimes say things like the La Liga, but I agree with you, the sound of it jars
