Barca-president: "So, have you won any trophies, Pochettino?"
"No"

"What were the ambitions of the most ambitious club you've managed?"
"Top 4, if lucky"

"And you bought Sissoko, did you?"
"I did"

"Did your team fare well in European competitions?"
"Not at all"

"Have you achieved anything of consequence with your present team?"
"Reached the final in the domestic Mickey Mouse-cup"

Not sure where all this guff has come from Poch has repeatedly said he'd never manage Barca because of his loyalties to Espanyol

Actually, I think he walked that claim back - said he was mis-quoted/interpreted about the "bull in the arm", and he was not surprised to be on a short list...its football.

Don't think there is anything to this - but Poch has some interesting lunch dates, first SAF, and now this...

I think that was a misunderstanding.

You are most certainly correct. But fun none the less.

If this story is true then there will be something to this and we may again be in a position where we lose another manager.
Admittedly I can see why he would be attracted to Barca huge club, wages and some of the world's best players would be at his disposal.
Looks like a long summer may lay ahead although of course I hope he stays and sees it through, but at the same time I'm a realist.

Barca-president: "So, have you won any trophies, Pochettino?"
"No"

"What were the ambitions of the most ambitious club you've managed?"
"Winning the first title with Tottenham Hotspur in over 50 years"

"And you helped turn players making the grade into Internationally renowned players?"
"I did. Rose, Walker, Kane. I also improved Dembele, Lamela, Eriksen, Vertonghen and Alderweireld."

"Did your team fare well in European competitions?"
"Not yet. We underachieved in my first seasons in the Europa League and Champions' Leagues. However all British clubs have struggled, probably due to the competitive nature of the league itself and fixture pile up. We will do better next term."

"Have you achieved anything of consequence with your present team?"
"I've helped turn a top 6 team fighting for a top 4 place into a top 4 team fighting for the title, bettering teams without a fraction of their wage or transfer budget, in a stadium still only for 36,000, using young English talent, coaching and preparing this team to move into the best stadium in Europe. I've done this in only 3 years. All my players love me and almost all have signed long term deals. All my players fight for each other. We do this without a minimal net spend and whilst playing competitive, intense, attractive and attacking football."

"Holy cow. You are basically the best young manager in Europe. You just need trophies to become an elite manager. Wanna manage us in Barcelona?"
"No, gracias señor, I love Tottinghan and my history with Español makes it hard to come to you."

Fixed your post.

That was a misunderstanding when someone thought he said he was born with a bull in his arm, thinking this meant Espanyol. He actually said ball, not bull.
EDIT: sorry, didn't see further posts before I answered this one.

Just hope there's nothing in this. With luck it's like the lunch with Fergie last year.

They stopped at Sissoko.

There is no doubt in my mind that if they made an offer Poch would want to take it.
I think they will look towards the Sevilla coach though.

Money talks - but his stock is high and will continue to rise with us. Barcelona is a 2-3 season max job with the demands over there...particularly at a club where players are more influential. It could end in epic failure, which without a pedigree of trophies and titles behind him, could completely ruin his career.

The better we do, the better he does, we will always hear of these links. It will never go away. Unless you're 6, havent got a clue or just started supporting spurs yesterday there is nothing to see here.

It's safe to say that there's no smoke without fire. So are we signing Messi, Suarez or Neymar?

Mauricio Pochettino rules out ever managing Barcelona - 'I saw Barca's president in a bar, but it's just coincidence'

I saw Bartomeu by coincidence in a bar in Barcleona, last Tuesday,” said Pochettino. “I have known him for a long time before he became chairman of Barcelona. “There were many people around us, who saw us to say hello and we spent five minutes together - that was the reality. You know the rumours after it’s impossible to stop, but I am an Espanyol supporter.

“If Daniel Levy sacked me in a few years, it would be impossible to manage Arsenal. In football it’s difficult to keep values, to stay loyal with heart and emotion. But, for me, it’s more important to be loyal. I am an Espanyol fan, I love Espanyol and now Tottenham. For me, it would be impossible one day to move to Arsenal. It would be impossible.”
