“If the offer came, and Pochettino decided he wanted to go, he would go,”
No shit Sherlock, would he decide to go though? In other news, if Sun’s Head of Sport Shaun Custis decide to quit his job, he would quit his job.

Spurs are a more attractive proposition that United at the moment.

Think about the expectation and pressure to deliver after a frustrating few years with Moyes and LVG...that's the question I would be asking if I were Poch or any other manager on the short list for the United job.

I would suggest any manager taking on the United job now are on a hiding to nothing. Exasperated fans who are at the end of their tether. That doesn't breed much hope in the way of patience and allowing a new manager to adapt much.

Of course they're a massive Club and have huge resources but they're simply not the United of old and the circumstances of taking over there now, at their most difficult point in years, is vastly different and actually a pretty daunting proposition if anything.

Whilst at Spurs Poch is in the midst of building something special and I think most associated with the Club can feel that. He's adored by most and he just feels like a perfect fit for the Club and vice versa. He's being trusted to bring through young players and Levy has definitely got a long term plan regarding the current set up and I think Poch knows he has job security now barring a complete disaster. Would he have the same comfort levels at United? No chance IMO.

Yes this might be a bit rose tinted but the arrogance of those twats to suggest its such a simple and logical progression for Poch is outstanding,.

I sincerely hope Poch stays with us for the real long term and builds something special. Yes they'll be dips a long the way but we must ride these out.

Those twats keep using the word ambition. Well it would show far more ambition to stay with Tottenham and to turn us into top four regulars, and perhaps even more, by coaching and bringing through youth prospects and moulding them into a real team than going to United which is a Club that will attempt to buy its way back to the top.

Wouldn't happen at all as long as we are in frame for CL footie. Any manager who is on the brink of a top 4 with Spurs would choose to stick around to see the outcome of the season. I suspect it's all journalism crap aka. "shit my line manager gave me a deadline I can't reach without making up shite".

I think at the moment Real Madrid and Manu are'nt really that attractive teams for managers as many people think.

@tototoner:
All the idiots on Sunday Supplement today said Pochettino would jump at the chance to leave us for Man Utd also, twats

While no one can say he WOULD, no one can say he won't. We don't know the man, we don't have one foggy notion of his true intentions. He left Southampton didn't he?

surely it's super attractive, if it was straight after fergie then certainly not but after the drab and destruction of Moyes and LVG just someone coming in playing good football and having an ounce of attacking intent will be a hit with the fans

In your head that possibly sounded believable.

Yes he left Southampton, but that was because they got rid of the person (Cortese?) who Poch clearly stated was the reason he was still at the club, and would leave if said person was dismissed.

He warned them, they didn't heed his warning, and the rest is, as they say, is history!!

As far as I'm aware, there doesn't appear to be any chance of such a circumstance reoccurring at THFC, and he has repeatedly stated he is in this for the long haul, wants to be part of the whole new stadium adventure, etc etc.

He's going nowhere (y)

I don't see how its completely pie in the sky though BC. Ok I'm clearly biased but I still think I've made some relevant points which would at least enter Pochettino's thought process should he be approached.

Don't agree mate. It would take Poch time, like it did with us to extent or even more in all likelihood, to implement his ideas and get them playing attractive football within his style. They're already at the end of their tether now and I don't think they'd have the patience for allowing another year of transition to pass by.

I agree with @Mr Pink

I think Spurs are positioned to go on a 5-6 year run of competing for league titles and trophies starting this year.

But, having said that, a new contract would go a long way towards cementing this budding romance between Pochettino and Spurs.

One good way of keeping him other than a new contract is to back him in this transfer window.

2 quality additions could really push us on.

It's not so much being harder in January, it's not, you just have to pay more but to possibly win the league or get top 3 means guaranteed top money and attracts better sponsorship/naming right deals too.

Pays for itself.

I'm sure we will IF we can find one or two who Poch actually wants and their club is willing to sell at a reasonable price and who wants to join our club.

Without reading the entire thread I welcome this attention. This puts Poch in an even stronger bargaining position that does not just come with an improved contract. More critically it tests the sincere 'backative' resolve of the board. It is very evident that he is a highly ambitious manager that is going to require sensible backing on his terms. You cannot string along signings always on the boards terms. Please take this in context of sensible backing, and I am sure Poch knows this.

I for one minute cannot accept that he would not want one maybe two players in now, and early. Over to the board though on 3 years still to run contract. I am quite sure in the world of contracts there are clauses that suits both sides on termination at a reasonable given time. Next few weeks especially will be very interesting.
