I do think it’s too early for Poch, but reading his book, he definitely has the self-belief so maybe he’s up for it. But it’s a short-term job and I’m hoping that is good enough reason for him to stay-put. Wouldn’t blame him using the situation to gain leverage though.
That’s the thing though, as long as he is polite to Perez when saying no, he knows full well the job comes up again in 12, 24 months again like clockwork. It’s not now or never.

Pretty sure I remember Poch saying he has promised Levy that he will lead us into the new stadium.

I know this is football but Poch strikes me as a man of his word.
Me too. He is a man of honour. As long as he feels Levy has kept his promises too. The most crucial thing is that Levy plays this whole thing well. He’s got to be closer than ever to Poch, with those evening visits to his gaff with a nice bottle Malbec being paramount.

Hes been backed more than any other manager has, Sanchez 42M, Moura 25M, Sis 35M I don't know if we would have spent that sort of money previously. And Sanchez was our top target I believe for his position last summer, we were linked with Mawson who would have been cheaper, But was still got DS. And Moura I think was our top target for his position this January.

Chuck him a new, very long term deal. It's easy to underestimate the importance to players of a stable manager. Lose Poch and it all falls to shit in my opinion.

He has his failings like anyone, but he's young and will only improve.

I could understand the lure of Madrid but he'd be nuts to go there. Zidane wins back to back CL's and is seemingly heading for the spanish archer. Ridiculous.

He's got the opportunity to create a whole club in his image and become an icon here. I hope that is explained to him on a daily basis.

I think he knows this Steve. He is a pragmatic guy and I think loyalty, trust etc are very important to him. I think he has that with Levy.

The link has been posted I think but the BBC's Football Focus are showing the full interview tomorrow and it's on BBC Radio 5 Live tonight from 7pm.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42886328

Giving a chunk of both shows running time to this interview is a flagrant disregard for their anti Spurs agenda so I'm pretty sure heads will roll over this :cautious:

You told me there wasn’t any anti Spurs media agenda @Archibald&Crooks! Are you a changed man? Has the obvious bias from some quarters finally overwhelmed you? :D

Until the Moura signing we'd never really spent any more than we'd recouped from sales during his tenure.

Who told you mowson was cheaper? Mowson was more expensive than sanchez and that's why we opted for sanchez.

Sanchez was always our prime target until it got out. Mowson money was less than Sanchez, but very excessive. And the way we packaged Sanchez, we could not of done with Mowson.

Poch is the 4th longest serving manager currently in the PL????

Only Wenger, Dyche and Howe being above him. So many sackings happen now, in 12 months time there could easily be atleast half a dozen new managers in the pl.

Mawson more than 42M!? I’m sure what I read was around 20M and that was probably too high for him at that point.

To be honest I never expected us too spend 42M on a defender

As frustrating as his tactics were in the first half, he was brilliant in the second half. Thought subsituting Lamela in for Sanchez was particularly class.

More importantly this performance gives me confidence that this squad is talented enough to enforce their will on high end opponents. Once we do that on a consistent basis than we'll be truely devastating.

Just found an old thread from Poch's first season with a few posters promoting Pardew as a possible replacement for Poch.
