One thing for me is for certain and that’s Levy is not an idiot. There’s a very strong reason he has gone out his way for the NFL tie up, what it is, I’m not sure yet. But the last few pages have certainly planted a nasty seed in my mind.
If we were sold to an existing NFL franchise holder and they decided to move to London. I hate to say but I could easily see the NFL team being their priority. It’s something I’d never really thought of . But the more you think about it,unfortunately the more sense the whole project makes.

The one thing i really hope that Poch doesn't persist with is this wing back / full back rotation, can't see that it's helping the team and i don't go with the theory it's because they do the most running and even if they do i'd still rather see a settled pair !

Glad I'm not the only party pooper :cautious:

I genuinely can’t understand people that are excited by it, bar the weirdos who actually think American Rugby is cool. Even then why you want it associated with the mighty THFC I’ll never know.

I just swung by to look at this thread in the mistaken belief that it was about our manager. Is there another thread named "NFL Franchise" where I can read opinions about Mauricio?

“When we arrive at our new stadium and focus only on investing and trying to improve the team, people will be allowed to blame us if we don’t achieve,” Pochettino said. “But today, it’s completely unfair that people are going to compare us with City, United or Chelsea. We are on a completely different way.”
Taken from this article. Seem's to suggest spending promises have been made once we're in the new stadium.

As mentioned in the player thread, this is the first time I am genuinely annoyed with him today.

If Eriksen was passive then I've no idea what that makes Poch.

You simply can't sit and wait for something to change on the field. Especially when it's so bleeding obvious that there should have been two changes. Unfortunately this does seem to be a blind spot for Poch and unless he starts to become more proactive it is going to undermine all the great work he does.

I shouldn't be screaming at the screen for Lamela to be brought on. I shouldn't be wanting basic and clear changes to be made 20 minutes before he decides to do anything. Poch should see it way quicker than a football fan.

I'm sorry but he did nothing but hope in that second half. Great managers don't do that and whilst I don't want to be so hard on him there has to be a realisation at some point that his lack of pro-activeness is costing us.

Has Poch made decent players look better than they are, or do we have Very good players that have made Poch look better than he is?

Starting to think our players think they are better than they are. Only Kane, Vertonghen, Alderweireld would get in the City, United, Chelsea or Arsenal team. All the others can dream of bigger clubs but they would be bench warmers there. Alli is having a very poor season.

Poch starting to frustrate me in these big games, granted we missed Alderweireld, Sanchez and Wanyama but he just can’t seem to change in-game. Two changes at half-time had to be done Lamela for Alli and Aurier for Trippier. We were still in the game but he waited until we were 3-0 down. Does he worry the team can’t handle in-game change? Or does he worry about the fall-out? The fallout of dragging Alli off at half-time, of realising Trippier should have been subbed at 30minutes, or of dropping Hugo or at least taking the captaincy off him...becAuse Poch has some big decisions to make, I hope he can step up.

Not really bothered at our result today, considering the circumstances I think we did as well as we could.

I am disappointed in how Poch/Levy handled the Walker situation this summer. Hope it's a learning moment that if we sell one of our starting xi it's to the continent and never to a league rival.

No no no, don't go there. It's not allowed. Expect solid-gold one-liners such as look at all the other teams, they are bad vs. top 6 too. It's a myth that we need to improve vs. top 6. We have the youngest squad ffs.

Easy to say but what could the club do differently?..keep hearing people say 'sell abroad' but the power's all with the player, if he digs his heels in there's not really another option, stupid to let an unhappy asset disrupt the squad or dwindle in value by chucking him in the reserves.
And let's face it, if City didn't buy him, they'd have thrown the same sort of money at someone of similar quality.

He had just signed an extension I would rather let him rot, until a European side came in for him then sell him to city.

I honestly dont think that there is another fullback in world football that is defensively as brilliant as Walker. He uses his pace so well and totally nullified our left side by himself. There's a reason he keeps Danilo out of the side.

But what if he won't go abroad? we can't afford to let 50-60m pound players rot in the reserves mate.
It's an easy thing to say as a fan though.

The current Des Walker would have nullified our left side attack tonight. Kyle is a top player, but let’s not pretend he’s unbeatable. We’ve seen him struggle plenty of times. We struggle to tear any sides full backs apart thesedays!

Why is there an assumption that if we refused to sell he would completely down tools?

It's a World Cup year so if for his own ambition I'd imagine he would have sucked it up and get on with it. Then there is professional pride and the fact that maybe had we kept him we'd be up there again challenging for the league and/or winning cups which could have changed his mind.

It's entirely hypothetical but we always look at these things from the worst case scenario but the best case scenario is keeping the best right back in the league improves our chances of winning silverware and once we do everyone is happy.

So lloris wouldn’t get in any of them? (Liverpool or arsenal)
Or Rose? (Most of them)
Or Wanyama (most of them)
Or Eriksen (some of them)
Or Son (some of them)

And then add Toby jan and Kane so a good 7-8 players who could get into most of the top6 teams.

It’s a bollocks point mate, our team is good it’s just that our first XI and squad is no where near man.citys. We also lack 1-2 game changer type players that most of these clubs have : city have loads then there are: hazard, mane, salah, coutiniho, Sanchez, ozil, pogba, martial. We have son on his day and Kane and then no one as alli and eriksen so inconsistent.
