Can’t remember but one where it was said that we had to break even every year until stadium is built then we can loosen the purse strings bit by bit so to speak. How true it is I don’t know, not sure Levy will ever give a manager true riches or up the wages but sadly we need to if we want to compete these days money talks.

Poch has a long way to go to be on peps level but then so does pretty much every manager in the prem.

Said it many many times and will say it again Poch failing is from the summer - he didn't and I think still doesn't know how to improve us in the final third

So lloris wouldn’t get in any of them? (Liverpool or arsenal)
Or Rose? (Most of them)
Or Wanyama (most of them)
Or Eriksen (some of them)
Or Son (some of them)

And then add Toby jan and Kane so a good 7-8 players who could get into most of the top6 teams.

It’s a bollocks point mate, our team is good it’s just that our first XI and squad is no where near man.citys. We also lack 1-2 game changer type players that most of these clubs have : city have loads then there are: hazard, mane, salah, coutiniho, Sanchez, ozil, pogba, martial. We have son on his day and Kane and then no one as alli and eriksen so inconsistent.

I didn’t use Liverpool in my comparison, they’ve consistently finished below us in the last 6-8 years.

Lloris is not better than Ederson,DeGea, Courtois and is probably level with cech.
On current form Rose is struggling and who says it’s not a permenant result of his injury.
Eriksen consistently goes missing in the big games and Son isn’t even s regular starter for us.

I’m not saying they are bad players they are not, and on our day we are capable of beating anyone. But we lack consistency and know-how for the big matches and I just don’t think Amy of the big clubs would look at anyone outside of Toby, Kane and Jan. Madrid are after Alli purely for the marketing side. He’s not good enough to start there, his football is a side-show to the brand.

Unfortunately he’s made glaring mistakes in 4 big games that have cost us the result. And these aren’t hindsight call by me. Obviously didn’t know about wanyama fitness for Chelsea but 3 of the other 4 were seemingly obvious.
1. Chelsea Playing unfit wanyama which lost us the game and resulted in losing wanyama for half the season.
2 dropping Sanchez for united meaning Dier moved into back 3 so had no DM
3 Playing dembele as a single pivot so effectively our DM in NLD- a mistake he then repeated again at Leicester
4 today, yes Toby Sanchez were out. But city are the highest scoring team in Europe you have to play a back 3 especially as you have no DM. Dier vertonghen Davies.

For me the 2 most worrying were seeing how dembele performed in that DM role in NLD and making exactly same mistake for Leicester. And today thinking he could go toe to toe with city. Tactically Wagner and Moyes made a better job of playing city. Its hugely annoying because he is obviously a great coach and has done so much good. But then he will go and do something so stupid like today and it’s just infuriating.

Fair, I see your points and do tend to agree pal. We need to really strengthen the squad, poch has really had us massively over performing the last few years. We are just finding our true level now.

I strongly disagree with this.
The talent at Pep's disposal in his entire management career has been astonishing. The best players and squad in Spain and Germany and now in England.

Poch has worked wonders with our group and even with the astonishing financial edge, if we had had more luck with injuries this season we would be in a better spot.

Anyway am disappointed in the result and some moments but still very proud of Poch and the team.

COYS!

But what if he won't go abroad? we can't afford to let 50-60m pound players rot in the reserves mate.
It's an easy thing to say as a fan though.
i guess what's more valuable the 50 million or sending a message that the club is in control not the player. if they want to leave fine go to psg or bayern, if the player still doesnt want to go then fuck 'em. 50 million doesnt go that far anymore these days.

As mentioned in the player thread, this is the first time I am genuinely annoyed with him today.

If Eriksen was passive then I've no idea what that makes Poch.

You simply can't sit and wait for something to change on the field. Especially when it's so bleeding obvious that there should have been two changes. Unfortunately this does seem to be a blind spot for Poch and unless he starts to become more proactive it is going to undermine all the great work he does.

I shouldn't be screaming at the screen for Lamela to be brought on. I shouldn't be wanting basic and clear changes to be made 20 minutes before he decides to do anything. Poch should see it way quicker than a football fan.

I'm sorry but he did nothing but hope in that second half. Great managers don't do that and whilst I don't want to be so hard on him there has to be a realisation at some point that his lack of pro-activeness is costing us.
What a great post. I totally agree with this

yeah he should have brought on Wanyama or Toby....or maybe the fully fit Lamela as opposed to the one they are managing after 13 months out. Yeah Poch what were you thinking?

But the club isn't in control...power is with the players though mate, they know this, their agents know this.
This isn't unique to us, this is the case throughout football.
Using your approach we'd have one right back, as we wouldn't have brought in Aurier without the Walker money...just cant see how this approach is remotely sensible, as I said though, its easy to say this sort of thing as a fan.

“When we arrive at our new stadium and focus only on investing and trying to improve the team, people will be allowed to blame us if we don’t achieve,” Pochettino said. “But today, it’s completely unfair that people are going to compare us with City, United or Chelsea. We are on a completely different way.”
Taken from this article. Seem's to suggest spending promises have been made once we're in the new stadium.
This has been previously confirmed by Hercules

This summer Poch is going to have to make some tough decisions. Looks like some players are going through the motions a bit, others like Dembele coming to the end of their peak. Might need a total reboot of the team going into the new stadium, which is nor ideal.

Pretty annoyed with Pochettino I am starting to question the way he sets the teams up against top teams especially away from home.I thought he had learnt his lesson with performances against Liverpool and Real Madrid. He needs far more criticism and scrutiny... The tactics and Intensity is way off

Also allowing Walker to leave looks like a massive error now as it has completely affected the balance of the team.

As a club we need to be ruthless and bring in players who are better than what we have now. At this moment I would accept big money for Rose, Alli and Dier if it was offered and invest again.
