I would read it he won’t stay around that long (Daniel Levy take note!). He WANTS his kind of backing now! I again say he will get good backing.

Poch’s firstvchoiced backing or settling for 2nd/3rd choice backing?

With a stadium to pay for I can’t seethe purse strings bring loosened too much...

Backing backing backing, every manager wants backing when they lose. We have the team to win the FA fucking cup but we lost again. Seems like everyone blames losing these days on not getting enough players in a window that closed 8 months ago. Fact is nobody bought a single player since the FA Cup started in 3rd round yet we only failed to show up when it mattered, whats missing?

I think this sums up football beautifully if I am honest. The bit that is missing is all in the eye of the fan - be it on the terraces, down the pub, on here, in his own home in front of the TV ...

Against a team we dominated in the same stadium only a few weeks ago.

Read the posts, and my comments in its context please. Poch as good as said it ‘sometimes we need a little more-quality’ and we don’t have that. Ofcourse I paraphrased his quote, but tgst is what me means, and why I responded, as he ‘won’t stick around for another 4 years’.

All I'm saying is we beat Utd a few weeks ago same stadium, no pressure, today theres trophies involved and the team went missing. Mentality is clearly as much of an issue than personnel, what kind of players does he expect us to get that can fix that if he can't.

As always in moments like this. Take a deep breath, focus on something else for a few days and don’t look at social media.

I know we’re hurting after that but the last thing we need to do is over react.

At the same time, I totally understand where he is coming from. Our last few transfer windows have been preeetty shite. The players we really rely on now are players that we have had for 4 Years (kane, jan, eriksen), what the fuck are we playing at??

We've relied on Son, Wanyama and Sanchez a lot last couple of years haven't we?

We did however get the easiest draw possible. The first decent team we came up against beat us

How can he say stuff like this?! Eriksen will be 30 In 4 years do you expect him to stay if it will take 4 years?!
Maybe I’m overreacting now but quotes like this can score of our players or players we want to buy

"Over the last four years, we are building a very good team, trying to create the winning mentality but at the moment it is not enough. Tottenham have to keep going in this direction because it will be perfect.

"To create that winning mentality is another four years. I think Tottenham [with] more time, with me or with another, but I think it is important to keep developing that philosophy that is important for the club."

Absolutely nothing wrong with what he said at all. Embarrassing reading some of the shit being posted tonight on here.

Haha some of you lot need to get a grip. Those questioning Poch's position need to remember where we were 5 years ago. He's (fingers crossed) just delivered CL 3 seasons on the bounce. We haven't spent anything compared to the teams above and just below us. We've just played a season away from home. Yeah it was shit losing today but the players and manager will be feeling it worse than we are. They'll all be fucking gutted. We've come so far in the last 4 years but we aren't the finished article yet. He does need properly backing now though or we will lose him to another club and the grass won't look that greener then.

I would read it he won’t stay around that long (Daniel Levy take note!). He WANTS his kind of backing now! I again say he will get good backing.

So, this in my opinion is a standout moment in Poch's Tottenham tenure...When you read those comments, you see frustration in not having the 'capacity' to beat teams like Utd, Chelsea, City in big moments and its clearly as you said, a public statement to say we need more input into the squad. But will he get it? That's the key question. but the answer is really not just based on the player he wants or we'll get.. If Poch goes for a marquee player who costs most than Levy is prepared to pay then theres the answer...Poch wont stay much longer. If Poch gets the player(s) he wants and we still don't win then what?
He talks about 4 more years...This is critical too imo, as you cant expect the club to back you with marquee singings and then STILL say don't expect trophies for another 4 more years....Its just not possible.

I think that interview has hit a raw nerve and uncovered deep rooted problems we face as a club and he as a manager. Its quite possible Poch knows that no matter who HE brings in he cant deliver trophies for up to 4 years and he's trying to protect himself. Yet he is also suggests that if he leaves then next manager faces a few years of no trophies too.

My gut feeling is he could leave at the end of next season, if not sooner if we don't win a trophy or compete for the title next season like we did last season and the season before.

Hate to say it but I cant get over the feeling that Poch still feels like a transitional manager. He came when we were in transition. He absolutely has transformed us as a club, but I really don't see him as THE manager to transform us into a title winning club. And he will, unfortunately, leave once he's realized he cant transition us into that type of trophy winning club. And the next manager will come in and carry on the fight. Irrespective of who Levy brings in to show he's backing the manager, we are still a club in transition and Poch is not the final manager who delivers and neither are we as a club the final product capable of winning. We just aren't there yet. We lack certain players, we lack certain leaders and theres nothing Levy can do right now in terms of backing that will get us the trophy. The main reason being Poch imho is not an elite manager capable of winning.

We'll get players in, no doubt about it. But we'll lose big players too and you cant replace those AND expect to win something next season. Poch aint no miracle worker.

Ok sure, we have relied on many of our new signings. But my point was, that successful teams add KEY players during every transfer window. Chelsea and Arsenal haven’t done it, and that’s why they’re struggling. Liverpool added Salah, Van Dijk for example.

If I was Poch, facing yet another summer of replacing experience with youth. I would be looking for an exit route.

I suppose there's differences there though, Van Dijk was an easy signing to make as they desperately needed a CB and a top winger, with Spurs it's not easy to improve on what we have as we've good players everywhere already, you could say Alderweireld playing would be a big bonus though..

You can talk about other clubs spending more on transfer fees and wages than us, but that didn't stop Wigan from beating Man City and winning The FA Cup a few years ago. It didn't stop Portsmouth from winning it 10 years ago. Sure, you will say "look at them now", but that's not the point. Also, Swansea and Birmingham have won The League Cup since the last time we won it. We are not talking about rich clubs. And don't get me started on Leicester. We need to stop making excuses. Excuses are for losers and bedwetters. :sneaky:
