Based on this it seems that quote I just posted was not in relation to Real Madrid at all.

Yeah that’s true. But you know it will be used by the media just as you initially interpreted it. We just can’t get wound up by it as they will use it to say he wants out. It’s what they do. I’m more than ever relaxed about him staying.

It's also worth noting at this point, that Poch has always said words to this effect whenever he has been asked about his future. "I let football guide me", "you never know in football". He has one objective: do not deny anything and play everything with a straight bat. It's diplomacy.

'I live in the present, there is nothing more important than that, I enjoy what is happening and what has to be will be. Jorge Griffa once told me that I must let football take me, that I do not want to change my destiny.'

Yeah that was about the book thankfully.

Dan Kilpatrick quoted it, with a worried reaction, but then deleted the tweet, guessing after he realised the context.

Pochettino is talking about his journey so far, not just his future
While Spurs fans may be worried about some of his comments today it is worth remembering that the book Pochettino is launching is as much about his experiences leaving his comfort zone in order to embark on a path that took him to Spurs as it is about his work at Tottenham.

Pretty sure that was about the book

I have no doubt Poch was aware of Real's interest and signed anyway.
The reasons he signed are still valid and he will be fully aware he won't see five years at Madrid.
I would be very surprised if he went.
I believe any manager would prefer the ego trip of taking us to the very top as opposed to bailing out to take over an ageing Real team that could see him unemployed in a year whilst his replacement took the glory for the rise.
The Real job will still be there in the future if he still wished it.

Wasn't that from before he signed his new contract? Aside from him always giving that answer, I'd imagine he couldn't say he would stay until the contract was signed and the club opened the purse strings. Now with a new deal, full support from the board, promises it is 100% his decision which players stay and go and a 150 million pound transfer fund, I'd be really shocked if he went. I fully expect lots more news stories about him going to RM since it is their standard approach to signing people that are not for sale

Just to clarify (before people expect us to have a transfer budgetof £150) that is gross (including money from sales).

“We’re a great group of people. The technical staff, the board and the players we all believe in this project. We want to make the new stadium a reference in football. And we see people want to be part of this special project”

It was "when asked about Real Madrid". It's really nothing new, he always says a version of that same thing. But it does also inform us that he is sticking with his approach. Football is constantly changing, and what is meant to happen will happen, regardless of what he tells the media.

“The link now with Madrid is normal and I take it with all normality. I’m committed to Spurs and still have a long contract with them I just signed. I’m happy where I am, and to be here talking about this book.”

“I am very happy to be at Tottenham. Let’s enjoy this moment now and in the future see what happens.”

Good quotes from Poch in those last two/three threads.

I'm pretty convinced he's staying.

Now did I read earlier today that Klopp is also on their wanted list ? Oh the fun that would be had...
