So in summary:-

Real want Poch

Levy does not want to lose Poch
Poch confirms no release clause or verbal agreement
Poch says he's happy at Spurs and excited in the project
Poch says he wouldn't force a move
3 of the biggest and best ITKs say he's staying

Yet some will still be convinced he's off...

Even if Poch is staying for this season to honor his contract it certainly adds pressure on Levy to deliver the goods this summer.

Now I’m ready to go for lunch. Not to take over Real Madrid. I’m excited to go back to London. The project is exciting. I’m here now and the most important thing is the book.

Can't understand why Madrid would want a manager who in 4 seasons has lost a League cup final and two FA cup semis, stay with us Poch just keep not losing to Woolwich that's all we ask.

That’s not the best thing to say ?

Makes it sound like he’d like to go but won’t. To be honest, that’s probably being truthful anyway. Who wouldn’t like to manage Madrid in all honesty?
Out of context and in a how the press will interpret kind of way it doesn't sound good. But given the fact how much he values respect. In my mind it is the same as him saying no. I have not had any worries that he is leaving right now.

Go read the 2013 ITK archive. Every ITK was adamant that there was no way Bale was leaving. But suddenly, in the back half of July, the tone changed, and the discussion veered over to how much money we would demand. Things change, and it's not the ITK guys' fault.

Personally,I won't be calm before Real signs another manager, but I do believe Poch to be a man of his word, and therefore stay here at least another year. What happens after that depends on if he feels Levy's ambitions matches his own. Funny to read Real Madrid forums, though. Man, what a lot of spoiled brats...

The timing of the new contract was perfect and it does make me wonder whether there is a lot more to this than has been revealed.

Agree with this. You never know in football.

Misleading headline, the bulk of the article are the more positive quotes.

Sounds reasonable to me - being respectful to RM but not looking to leave Spurs. He's not going to want to burn his bridges with them by being dismissive as who knows, he might well be interested in the job down the line.

Agreed.

"I'll listen to you but I can also say no thanks!"

Would love that bottom quote to be true!!

the headlines are all the same 'when Madrid come calling you have to listen' blah blah, but the content is far more positive and accurate of the message.

This could turn out very well for us.

If Poch turns down RM, despite being the media & bookies' favourite, and despite the RM chairman wanting him, it will send a huge signal to our key players, and hopefully expedite their signing of the enhanced contracts that are supposedly on the table.

Also, Poch is smart enough to realise this is a particularly bad time to be taking over RM, with significant recent success built upon players with huge egos and an ageing team that could win the CL but not compete in La Liga.

He also knows that RM coaches don't get four years to gradually build a Project, whilst his Spurs' Project is already several years into its development.

May I point out that a couple of years ago some people here were getting their knickers in a twist when Pochettino, in an interview with some French radio station, refused to rule out managing PSG - even though it was patently obvious he was merely being polite and respectful to one of his old clubs?

That levy wanted him tied down just incase something like this happened?
