To echo that, the alternative would have been a COYS-style cull of users and to limit who could access the transfer forums.

We have over 2000 people online at any one time during the window, COYS are lucky if they can handle 200 nowadays. Other forums are similarly tiny. We pushed to make it all as open as possible but that comes at a huge cost (topping £500/month now). Making up £6k/year in terms of donations and advertising is a challenge so we appreciate everyone that donates. Donations are almost only made during the transfer window and need to last all year.

Also to clarify, no one is sending the ITKs money and the ITKs get nothing out of sharing their info.

The ITK on here have clearly highlighted Grealish & Zaha as two of Pochettinos main targets alongside Martial it seems.

The Zaha one I get because we may have been waiting on a who blinks first approach with Man U over Toby etc but I'm sorry, missing out on Grealish because Levy was trying to do a bit of 'got you by the bollocks' in the boardroom I struggle to stomach when we are knocking on the door of the big time for god knows how many years.

We had a player that could prove adequate and genuine cover for Dembele & Eriksen, with a really high ceiling regarding his potential and someone who filled the HG issues we were having and Levy valued an extra £5m or so which is what it seems to be over the chance to supply his manager 3 potential solutions rolled into 1.

I struggle to think of another club globally as big or bigger than ours who continuously tries to pull a fast one when the need for the team is for the greater good than we do. He should have weighed up the risk/ reward and bit the bullet if Grealish was in fact one of our prime targets like he seems to have been.

Deals for Martial & Zaha I understand are far more complex and I do see why there has been prolonged movement but as I said, negotiating for a Hazard or an Mbappe is a different ball game to trying to wrap up a deal for a player who is homegrown, who's club didn't gain promotion and one who their manager was saying had to get sold barely a month ago. Levy saw dollar signs, chose to risk it for a showdown and it bit him in the arse

ITK haven't said Grealish was first choice, rather the opposite

I'm pretty sure he was pretty high up the list with the amount of time we've negotiated with Villa for him. If he wasn't and we spent as long as we did on him just go get him on the cheap instead of focus our attention focusing on genuine top targets then equally that's a pretty amateur thing to do from the clubs perspective.

Just because you're negotiating with one player doesn't mean that you can't also work on other options.

Agreed but a lot of our focus seems to have been around Grealish, Martial & Zaha this summer.

There's a very good chance that Grealish was our plan B and we kept that one warm until we knew what was happening with our plan A but I honestly cannot see why a homegrown alternative to Dembele or Eriksen wouldn't be seen a step a real golden chance to fill many Squad and quota voids for numerous reasons.

I still think he'd have made an extremely good signing but then again we don't know how high the price has been all summer long. It's difficult to understand things in their entirety with only a snippet of information here or there etc

Herc said more than once that he was Poch's first choice for that position

This is just one from Trix - I could find the rest but it's easily found anyway

The reason this keeps getting held back is because Grealish may not be our primary option.

That's just all we've heard of. The silence is odd but theres no way those are the only 3 players we're working on.

Is this the root of the hysteria on here? From the Premier League website:

Chelsea have brought in Jorginho (should strengthen their first XI) and Rob Green (lol).
Manchester City have acquired Mahrez (good player but squad depth for them) and Claudio Gomes (youth player, free).
Manchester United have signed Dalot (who?), Fred (could strengthen their first XI) and Lee Grant (3rd choice 'keeper). Plus Mourinho is moaning like a bitch that none of his targets have been got as yet.

I think what people actually mean when they make statements like the bolded one in your post is "Liverpool have spent loads of money on several players and lots of my friends are Liverpool fans and they're taking the mickey out of me because it's their year". Two thoughts regarding this:
1) We of all fanbases should be aware that the "make lots of high profile signings" approach doesn't always work.
2) Why didn't Liverpool have to fight off competition for any of the players they've signed?

If we sign Zaha (which I believe we will) then Poch will have finally got a player he's wanted for ages (backing!) and our squad will be nicely rounded out. If Wanyama's injury is a recurrence of his previous one then we need a CM, especially given that Winks may also be some way off a return. That's it.

9.5 days, 2 signings, no problem. I, like Poch, am calm.
Hope you are right. Just feels all too familiar with a few promising names being touted then the deal falls through or we wait till the last second to get a better deal and end up with nothing.

I know it probably doesn’t mean anything but someone on Twitter met Levy yesterday and posted a picture with him.

He said...

“Just met Levy and asked him about incomings.
He said ‘You’ll have to wait and see’ then winked at me and a ‘hope you enjoy the game’
??”

It's not true, the poster of this tweet took the photo in his post from another twitter user who snapped it while Levy was on a Stadium tour and only paused a second for a photo so there was no time for questions.

That doesn't sound like something that would happen on Twitter ..

A lot has been said over the past weeks about what Pooch meant by being brave. I have just read some quotes made by Pooch about Luke Amos. Perhaps this is what he meant.

"He's not so young -- 21 -- but maybe he doesn't have Premier League experience. But his performances in the three games showed it's not a problem to put him in to play.
"Maybe he's going to play ahead of some senior players. I'm more than brave and if I believe in some players I go with all the consequences."

I bet at the end of a long, tough season he wasn’t thinking about a player in our development squad as the answer to us taking the final step to being champions.
