It’s been a great run, Poch, and I will enjoy this last season of it. Too bad Levy outright refuses to back you. Sad to see it end like this but I am not surprised in the slightest. Levy will never change even if we get bought up by Qatar or Dubai and he stays on as chairman.

Yup, refused to back Pochettino, that's Levy alright.

Refused to play the expensively acquired and handsomely paid stars, instead pushing youth, ostracising the big earners and making the club incur losses on all of them, Levy backed him.

Summer 2015, wanted Alderweireld more than any other player. Levy went and got him, even though to get him he had to insert a clause which means Toby now has us over a barrel, and Levy never does written clauses. Why, to back Pochettino.

Summer 2016, wanted Wanyama more than any other player. Levy went and got him, even though we already had the proven partnership of Dembele and Dier, not to mention players like Bentaleb and Mason still on the books (both homegrown by the way and costing far less in salary, and both very able players at that point). Why, to back Pochettino.

Last summer, Levy breaks our transfer record to bring in a young centre back with one years experience in a second tier European league, he sells Walker (HG) because Pochettino has fallen out with him and goes on to buy a player to replace him from PSG because Pochettino still has close ties there and has been told Aurier would be a good signing if he could manage his eccentricities. Why? To back Pochettino.

Stop being such a sensationalist, revisionist, angry man. If you hadn't noticed, the actual football (remember, that's the sport Spurs compete in) begins and as far as I'm concerned, just like the rest of my life, I have missed watching us all summer and are far more interested in and excited by that than any business we will or won't do in the next 27 hours. That should apply to you to and anybody else who genuinely thinks of him or herself as a supporter of this fine club.

We have no idea whether Alderweireld and Wanyama were the two players Poch wanted more than any others in those windows.

If you think every manager gets every first choice player they want, you're mistaken. That doesn't mean they aren't being backed.

I didn't say they do, or that he wasn't. I just queried the statement made.

It's quite amazing. In the ITK thread you have the BSODL already patting Levy on the back for waiting to the last day of the window, because this is when agents get desperate. They are ALREADY congratulating him, yet we have still signed nooone, still struggling to get Grealish over the line, and apparently Sissoko is our new DM. We will be told this was the plan all along.

Shambles. Utter shambles.

Christ fella, you had me reaching for my really small Violin there :ROFLMAO:. It is an absolutely shocking window there is no hiding it but come on Eulogising Poch's time here is a bit strong.

I don't see anyone patting him on the back, I see many people being too level headed to lose their shit over intangibles and conjecture.

Did you really come into this thread for no reason other than to have a dig at people who don't behave the way you'd like, because you knew if you did it in the ITK thread you'd get a ban? If so, that's really weird.

Actually no it's not weird, it's just obeying the rules.

Besides, it all comes back to Poch not getting the players he wanted, so far. I mean, I've been banging this drum for a while now and the clock keeps ticking. 27 hours left and no Grealish as the sole signing isn't going to cut it.

No, obeying the rules would be coming in here to discuss something relevant to this thread, or at least spurs/ football related. What you did is member abuse.

I would suggest that's for Poch to decide, not us.

Poch is like that 10/10 blonde bombshell that you think you could spend the rest of your life with, while DL is her Dad who is bald, a key member of BDL and has a record of killing 3 people with his thumb.

I'm just reading Pochs book - and it gives a great insight about how he sees thing.

He admires Fergie, his man management, his willingness to throw in youngsters and his project around him as manager.
I really do believe that Pochs gets a lot more satisfaction from earning success - in the long run - with us than to go to one of the big clubs and buy success. He said that a lot of times and I believe him.

The word brave is mentioned a lot in this book - and imo he has a certain vision about what it means. Brave is to give youngsters like Winks their debut even though a 30m player is on the bench. Brave is not to buy the finished article for a ridiculous amount of money, it's trust in players that will go through hot coals for you. And he said, that players like Harry Kane, Ryan Mason, Harry Winks will always go that extra mile for their club and their manager who put so much trust in them.

I really can see Poch saying, it's either Martial or no one in that area - it would open the door for another youngster maybe. He said in the January transfer window - Levy wanted to buy another CM because he thought we were short in that area - Poch said that he don't want one because we already have enough options.

Very telling was the trip to argentina, where Levy and Poch created a bond. And I think that Levy will back him - as good as he can. And yes his dealings seem to be a bit stubborn and irritating sometimes - but as LeGin mentioned, he already have backed him in the past.

Completely, I just don't see how Poch could only be happy with Grealish and even that is at the moment not happening. When a chairman comes out and says he won't be sold, that normally means the end of it.

Back to Poch, we are horribly light in CM for the upcoming season. I can't see how he is happy with the strength in there, and neither am I.

Wow, Bishop Michael Curry in disguise. A lot of opinion in there written as fact but hey ho, one question for you. What do you think prompted Poch's outburst in May given all the above?

I don't remember an outburst. I remember a candid press conference where one line was repeated constantly by sensationalist journalists constantly until about 3 weeks later when we announced a new contract for Pochettino and they all had egg on their faces.

Every opinion I gave there is something which can be supported with a plethora of evidence from the time and context. Or do you remember Adebayor contributing much tot he 14/15 season from November onwards?

Clearly Levy has not been acting against Poch, we wouldnt be where we are today if he had done so. Levy has contributed to the success story no question. Poch's comments at the end of last season were totally uncharacteristic and clear sign of frustration. His body language on the day during the match suggested similar. He talked about being brave and I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about himself. Journalists were doing their job, no more no less.

We are all Spurs fans and want the best for the club, this forum is amazing as it gives us the opportunity to offer our views and read what others have to say. Let's keep it that way and not go down the route of telling others they are inferior or wrong because they think differently. COYS!!

Great post.
My only worry is we become stagnant, with those clubs around us strengthening I do fear we will have a serious top four battle.
Having said that if we can sign a genuine talent in CM, and one of the youngsters has a breakout season then I think most will be happy.
CM for me shouldn’t even be a conversation, it’s critical.

I would never tell anyone they aren’t entitled to their views, and I myself am frustrated by this window by the way, but I will never lose my belief that a collective of several hundred grown men (and a few women too) should apply at least a degree of decorum and thoughtfulness to how they vent their views, not will I ever accept that it is right to descend into hysteria over intangibles, hypotheticals and unknowns. Never.
