If after one month, we have players who give up, are difficult to manage, it's difficult to create a good atmosphere in the training sessions. Look, I was open to fixing it if some player is not happy at the club... we are open to finding the solution. But if they choose to stay here with us, they need to behave the way we want. Being professional means that

Assuming this is Toby and/or Rose, Dembele.

Does that mean he was willing to sell them and they decided to stay, or he was willing to sell them but Levy wanted too much money/nobody wanted them?

Because that's two very different scenarios for the squad harmony going forward. He says 'if they choose to stay' which implies they chose to not leave the club. But then 'they need to behave the way we want. Being professional means that' implies they're stuck here but have to lump it.

Pretty confusing.

I take it as Toby.

Sounds like he wanted to leave, so we allowed him to leave. He asked to stay, so Poch is willing to let him stay as long as he sorts his attitude out. Alternatively, Rose (behaviour being the outward opinions etc?)

Written press interviews will be out soon usually more depth than the press conference is given.

Gotta wonder if Poch doesn’t like working with more established, older players and prefers younger more amenable players. No surprise that Rose, Dembele and Toby were deemed surplus

These younger players are usually cheaper but this transfer window has caught the club out big time with what they are willing to pay.

You should read the Post Mortem thread if you think all is roses and daisies in Poch land.

what? the ITK that Poch and Levy arent talking? Same fellow said "we WILL exceed 150 million net spend" 3 months ago. I will leave it to you to decide the predictive value of ITK.

ValYid was the one that said they aren't speaking. Multiple outlets said the 150mil number (Dan KP on twitter had the same report as well), I'm personally of the opinion that is was all based off sales, so there was at least someone telling people that.

indeed, I misread the quote. I retract the initial part of my post but not the second - regarding the positive predictive value. We will see soon enough.

Just posted this in the Post Mortem but
Poch’s attitude today makes so much more sense now after Herc and Valencia’s comments.

He knows Levy embarrassed himself, hence his looseness/happiness at the presser. “I told you so”

so why did he say he wasnt being ironic or sarcastic? I dont understand how everyone can hold Poch in such high esteem and not take him at his explicit word.

Clearly there's a rift. Remember Donna Cullen tried to put words in his mouth, or at the very least, made Pochs signing expectations ( be brave) sound silly whilst on tour in the US.

Dangerous game by Daniel Levy. We the fans, haven't seen the likes of Poch at our club in 30+ years.

How much are we looking to spend this summer?
In region of £150m.

I'd imagine that was the info. Seems that everyone got a bit confused/forgetful that the aim was to sell Toby to Utd (who we thought were desperate for him), Dembele to China for good money and Danny Rose for a decent sum too. Additionally I'm sure they assumed they'd get bids for at least some of Janssen, GKN, Llorente and maybe Sissoko.

I genuinely can't understand how so few people saw this coming. It's the same as it ever was, the stadium hasn't effected our transfer policy for better or worse. It's exactly the same.

I feel sorry for Poch I really do, he’s getting stick in the press for not winning a trophy yet he’s at a severe disadvantage.... he’s working with one hand tied behind his back and expected to compete with clubs throwing money into their squads.

I’m worried that this may be the last season we are lucky enough to share with him

I don't know if the well is dry or not but the fact is they are clearly not freeing up funds to add to money we receive through sales.
I wish instead of this carefully worded waffle about the stadium not affecting transfers they'd have just said that we will continue to work on a strict budget of balancing purchases with sales.
