Just posted this in the Post Mortem but
Poch’s attitude today makes so much more sense now after Herc and Valencia’s comments.

He knows Levy embarrassed himself, hence his looseness/happiness at the presser. “I told you so”
My impression, Poch has played a blinder here.

If Levy did not know where fan loyalty was before - he will know soon enough. Levy is many things - but dumb is not one of them.

I think Poch will get what Poch wants - albeit next summer. And, he'll get a full pass this season.

Levy does have to answer to Joe Lewis - and while Joe's primary concern will be the financials, if fan unrest adversely affects the financials, Joe will expect Levy to fix the problem.

I feel sorry for Poch I really do, he’s getting stick in the press for not winning a trophy yet he’s at a severe disadvantage.... he’s working with one hand tied behind his back and expected to compete with clubs throwing money into their squads.

I’m worried that this may be the last season we are lucky enough to share with him
Every missed opportunity will be laid at the feet of Daniel Levy this year.

like what? I assumed you were saying we shouldnt take Poch's comments at face value when he said we should. If I misunderstood I apologize.
I think Poch knows how to play the media game well enough to lie when he has to lie. I don’t think he’s all honesty.

It wouldn't benefit anyone to be honest to the media if he genuinely felt let down.

Look at Mourinho right now, he's creating a horrendous atmosphere at that club and its possible his actions could have a knock on affect that cause their whole season to implode.

Much prefer the keep it to yourself approach, keep team spirit and belief high and the players focused and together. Even though it's been an awful window we do, you know, have a football season to compete in over the next 9 months.

thats speculation. if he says im not lying and you say "i get it, you're lying. wink wink". and lying isnt a game, its just lying. so Im going to assume he isnt a liar.

Is the likely fallout that we lose top 4, Poch and Eriksen because of this Windows dealings

If they are genuinely in it for the long term and this window was weighed up as a risk not worth taking by keeping the boys together I think Poch will continue his work with us for a fair few years yet.

I'm sure he won't let one signing from the Championship undo all of the hard work he has done so far and next summer we'll have spaces to fill with the probable departure of Alderweireld & inevitable departures of Dembele & Llorente at a minimum. The foundations are exactly the same as they were albeit with one, possibly two less players pushing for a first team place. The positive to this is that our lack of acquiring certain quality identified will open up genuine chances for Winks, Onomah, Amos & Skipp to make that spot their own by the time summer 2019 comes around. I think all will be fine

My fear isn't so much this season but next. If we can't spend money on players while being in the cl what happens if we drop out? The stadium is a long way from being paid off.

Anything can happen a year down the line. The thing we need to focus on is that we have our top 3 squad still intact, with many of them yet to hit their peak and the only first team player from last year that's going to be out of contract being Dembele. I still hope we get Grealish as he's tailor made for Pochettino to mould in either a CM or an Eriksen type position depending on his development. In the past we've been able to get over losses such as Carrick, Keane, Modric, Bale & Berbatov which was probably harder back then as we didn't have the status we have now and we're clearly recognised as being far more of a one man team compared to a collective like we are now. I honestly think we'll be fine

Wouldn’t the argument be that we still have the CL money that should have been spent this year for next year?

I think MauPo would be quite relaxed this year. He knows even if we fail massively this year most of the blame will be on Levy. He'd be free to walk next summer.

From all the doom and gloom one would think that we've had our squad gutted and poch has handed in his resignation which was refused by Levy. Have I missed something?

Will be surprised if Mourinho lasts the season. Poch will definately be United’s number 1 target and really I don’t blame him

Poch/Levy have said that we (Spurs) are ahead of where they thought they would be re. the CL etc.
Perhaps they have decided to 'stick' with what they have.
Maybe the end result of not signing anyone will work out, only seasons end will tell us that.
Yes, every other team has signed players, will that make more difference than a team that knows each other in and out.
ManC may well be found out this season, not to easy to win back to back titles.
Personally I would have liked a signing or two but perhaps keeping what we have is the answer to 'being brave' from Poch.

The fact we needed so little is both a point of relief and a source of frustration. We have a quality squad luckily, but 'what if' will undoubtedly be on the lips of many this season.

Agreed but what would we all think if we had signed a really expensive player, he turned out to be shit, we missed out on the top 4 and due to doing so we had to sell one of our mainstays to balance the books? I wonder if everyone would be as pissed off that we held fire then if that happened, which has every chance if you buy a wrong'un for top dollar at a time you're trying to pay off a £1bn pound development project
