Potch could take us further. Levy has run his race. Bye Levy.

I absolutely agree Levy's time is up.. And I think once the stadium is delivered it should hopefully be the prefect For Sale sign for Caine Hoy or whichever other deep pocketed Corp to cover in and take us to the next level.........

....But they need to remove Poch as he's had it..
I mean, Just look at the report about him leaving Toby and Trips out of the CL game tomorrow.... (for technical and tactical reasons) Seriously...? Is this man doing a Mourinho to get himself fired? Leaving out 2 of the best players in our squad for a CL opener??? Fuck sake!!

Point taken, he's had a few bad games himself. My thoughts are , he's poking DL with a stick.

Well if that’s the case he must have been drunk when he camr up with the tactical plan against Liverpool.

Actually Carragher did some analysis on what the “plan might have been”...it was let down by very poor passing, which is unusual for us...

Maybe Toby and Tripps spoke up after Saturday's shambles and Poch is reacting in a vindictive way. If this is so, along with Herc's comments, it looks like it's all breaking down, then he is almost definitely gone at the end of this season.

Very likely things are crap behind the scenes but its hardly just DL's fault!

On DL: My opinion is he should have told Poch prior to the season starting, that if it is DL's intention to ensure we qualify for CL again this season then he should have backed Poch in the TW appropriately. Therefore, any potential of not qualifying for CL is partly DL's fault.
On Poch: Equally to blame if not moreso should we not qualify for CL again this season.. And I'll go further - (anyone who loves Poch unconditionally look away now or ignore this post) Its mostly Poch's fault we are in this shitehole (league position and form) for the following reasons;
1. Prior to signing his contract extension he should have asked for written guarantees on squad investment.
2. During the Summer TW he should have given a definitive list of players/positions we needed strengthening in.
This bollocks about we *don't want to buy for the sake of buying if we cant buy the primary players we want* is just that - bollocks! Its bollocks he has come up with to give to the press as lip service. Don't believe it!
3. You dont allow your best player to come back from the WC and not have proper rest. The building entry pass for Kane should have been revoked for 3 weeks. Or Poch should have given him an order to go home and rest for 3 weeks, not come in every fucking day or whatever to the Training ground and continue to batter himself. (Kane is at fault for this stupidity as well)
4. If Poch was/is a world class manager he would know how to motivate and freak the fuck out on players Prior to/ During games/ Post games to get the point across that, just cos we didn't buy players it doesn't mean you can all turn up and expect to win without putting in 110% effort. If Poch has delusions of grandeur and expects to manage at Madrid or elsewhere then he can fuck off now cos he's just not showing world class management qualities. Managers need to give to get. And he imo does not have the words, expressive capabilities or the desire to win enough to transmit to the players to get them to play like their life depended on it. He's done afaic. He's hit his peak and he cant get any more out of the players at hand. He needs a new challenge to be motivated if he has lost the motivation that he first had when he came in from Southampton... He screamed at players back then.. His passion was evident on the touchline from min1 - min 95 and you knew he would have none of it on the training ground. Now, I look at him and if anything its pent up anger and frustration (who knows at what or who) and no ability to portray that to the players in a manner that helps them. If you need an example just watch Man City All of Nothing to see only a glimmer of what Pep allows to be broadcast on how to fuck the players up psychologically to get them to do what you want!
5. Players look shit! They cant pass, they cant press, they cant score, they cant think properly...This is Poch's fault. He hasn't prepared them well enough in training or on match days. If the players are tired then why run them into the ground still? Start doing Rondo's more instead of running for miles!!! talk tactics more instead of just expecting them to know what to do - cos clearly they don't during games. they're out of sync with each other.
6. Using Liverpool as 1 example - in the second half I only saw Poch jump up, scream and start to get behind and gee up the players at Min 92, when Lamela scored... All along - continuously throughout the whole match Klopp was screaming up & down the touchline. Theres the difference this season to past. Poch don't look bothered!!!

We've clearly stagnated and regressed. Anyone who cant see how bad we are playing atm needs to take off the rose tinted specs they bought for viewing Poch and start realizing that you cant expect to compete with the same set of players you had last season that was 20+ points behind the eventual Champs (and they still strengthened) and think that squad is god enough to compete..Poch is officially deluded if that's what he thinks and I'm not buying it at all that he's okay with that.
I had predicted and hoped if i'm being honest) that Poch would be out this season. That will be a reality by the end of this season as things stand.

And again, not wanting to offend anyone with sensitivities towards Poch but he's taking us as far as he can. Time to get better in. Managers are used and abused at the will of the owner and I believe if DL has any brains he'll get in another manager to push us onto bigger and better things at a higher level. Don't get me wrong, I love Poch but you cant keep loving someone unconditionally if they aint doing the business anymore.

You make some good valid points, but Vs United, Poch was on the touchline the whole game...

If you think Levy will get rid of Poch and bring in a bigger manager and give them lots of money, you’re naive in the extreme. Poch was/is perfect for us precisely because he doesn’t demand big bucks. There’s no train load of cash around the corner - this is it for the foreseeable, get used to it, with or without Poch

Not sure this site needs your “information” right now mate. This place is touchy enough as it is without a no doubt over reaction to you posting whatever it is that’s on yourThursdays of shoot weeks - Linda coming 9.30-10 so stay at home till she’s here mind and passing it on as info.

Hardly a shocker is it? I don’t think you can over react to how diabolical we’ve been this season on the back of a stuffed up stadium move and terrible transfer window. You make your own luck and we’ve well and truly not bothered on all fronts

Absolutely that is why poch was chosen so that what we have witnessed with the recent inactivity in the window he is more pliable and seemingly willing to except.
The top managers ones that have been successful will not accept that level of bollocks and would go public with it or probably quit, levy doesn't want that level of resistance and prefers those who he can hoodwink into what he feels is in the best interests of the club.

Clearly things are not great and we haven't started the season playing particularly well even in the games we won but that is nothing new under poch as we seem to get going until around November.
But I'm not sure that getting rid of him is the right answer because for one he has clearly been let down on the recruitment side of things, but who at the moment could come in and do better under these constraints not many I'm sure.
The top managers won't come because we fall short in the areas of players they would want to sign and our genuine lack of being able to compete fully rather than a stirring but token effort, so when you weigh up all those things why the fuck get rid of him but don't get me wrong a lot of your post I agree with but just not that.

Some of the comments in this thread recently are amazing, and not in a good way. Taken us as far as he can? Have a word. :banghead:

I must admit though that Poch's demeanor recently has been quite worrying, but imo it's far too soon to start panicking.

There is no doubt that either there are subtle political games going on behind the scenes or Poch is feeling the pressure and starting to lose it a bit. That comment about the cows reminded me of the Cantona interview :D.

Leaving Toby and Trippier at home for a huge game is also an odd decision for me. Maybe that's what he meant about being brave? Hope it doesn't back fire, because if it does he will rightly take loads of flak for it.

We've been here before, the cycle that is football. If Poch wants out now, perhaps he shouldn't have put pen to paper while advertising his latest book in the summer.

Can't say he wouldn't have known about Levy and all the baggage that comes with him.

Trippier deserves to be dropped based on his performance on Saturday. Toby on the other-hand was not great, but no where near as culpable as Trippier was. Trippier struggles against the high pressing, pacy teams that expose his lack of pace, both offensively and defensively. he got over hyped at World Cup for performances against second rate opposition.

Poch has been quite open that the fitness issues presented by the WC means he’s going to have his most challenging season. It was clear that Trippier picked up an injury during th semifinal, and we all know about Toby’s hamstrings. I really don’t see an issue in Poch resting a couple of players for each midweek match in the group stages, so we don’t see huge injuries occurring after Xmas.
