Don't mind me..just holding out hope that the timing of this Real Madrid/Lopetegui news is such that it pushes DL to heavily back Poch in January, knowing that RM will most likely have an open position for Poch after the season.

Much rather this news come now rather in March or April after another January of DL waiting for the summer window.

That said, my alarm bells will be going off (obviously they work better than NWHL's) if we don't sign anyone in January now. My optimism with Poch was rooted in 1)Levy would fix his mistake and buy in January and 2) none of the big boys would have open positions for him this summer. Seems like both of those might be in play by Feb 1.
I didn't get to sleep till 2am, because I was worried about what was going to happen with Poch.

One thing is for sure he won't want to pull that rabbit out again so Levy better stump up the big bucks come Jan or next summer could be bleak.
Alasdair Gold seems to think if we don't spend money in January, Poch will be off in the summer. Poch seemed to want us to spend in January, either to buy then or to pay then for the players to come in the summer.

Balague intimated the same. I'm resigned to losing Poch if we don't show intent in January. Not necessarily bringing someone in immediately, but at least signing players in January with loan backs to the clubs and bringing them over in the summer.

I wonder if Poch is waiting for some powerful players to retire from Real before he goes there, in particular Ramos.

Well if Gold is right, he's offski. There's no way we're going to break our self imposed transfer embargo in January...

Now AG doesn’t know anything. Sarcasm btw. Not opinion. I keep talking about blinkers.
missed the blinkers bit mate.
Suppose the question is where Danny has the ability to learn and act differently.
Any evidence of that?

I have said on a few posts that some fans have to take the blinkers off. Believing all is well with the hierarchy. In other words; believe what you want. It is not all well though. The ball is in DL’s hands, and he knows it.

I think that the way the summer window was so contracted, we may make an exception this window, because we might be able to buy for the summer and placate Poch. Otherwise, Levy will have killed his golden goose.

As always, thanks for sharing Hercs, good to get clarity, it’s about time a line was drawn by Poch with out illustrious Chairman, he’s got away with dithering for far too long! I have zero faith DL will change and sadly the loss of our absolute class act manager at every level will be felt by us all for many years to come but at least DL’s luck will have finally ran out for all to see.

Holtby, Dele (loaned out). I think there's another one going back a few years.

I didn’t think Holtby was a Poch signing, though he might of sold him

Apologies if I’m wrong though

Sorry I thought I’d put Poch on there though was replying to something someone said in the Poch thread lol

Hes human, every little smile or frown is not necessarily any reflection on his transfer policy or club relationships. He probably had a shit nights sleep and spilt his morning coffee, whilst stuck in traffic.

I don't see who we're possibly going to sign in January that could persuade Poch to stay. The club is haemorrhaging hundreds of millions on the stadium so we don't have any money unless Enic suddenly decide to fundamentally change their entire MO, and speculate for success on the pitch rather than in property development.

To be fair when we really needed to spend to survive we did. That Jan window when Harry came in we brought in a few players. When we sold bale we spent most of it too. I think if Poch gives an ultimatum Levy will spend

I still really struggle to see him at Madrid. A place with no time or patience for 'projects', where you're more likely than not to be sacked within the year and you have to cater to egos rather than chuck them out. It just doesn't sound like Poch at all. I wonder if he's feigning interest as a bargaining chip more than anything here because if I was worried about him going anywhere right now it'd be Man Utd.

Excuse my American thickness ( :playful: ), but "blinkers"?

Horses wear them to focus view forwards and block side and reverse views.

Both "blinker" and "blinder" are also used metaphorically to refer to people with an overly narrow focus or inability to see the larger picture.

Taking them off allows the full view
