I fought in the Falklands and the Poppies are a thank you to all the servicemen who gave their lives!!!
I think you've missed the point: it wasn't about poppies or the Falklands War, per se.

Gardening leave or take the money hmmm that’d be a tough decision to make for levy
I think Levy would actually make him tend the flower beds at Hotspur way for the remainder of his contract rather than pay him off.

So with Conte not going to Madrid it got me thinking.

Hypothetically speaking, if Poch were to decide to leave and go to Madrid (For the record, I don't think he will) would fans rather we went for someone like Eddie Howe who appears to be a very good, young, progressive coach. His teams play good football and he would also have an eye on youth development and a long term plan but he's not won anything....

or

Would you prefer someone like Conte. He's a serial winner after all. Also progressive, young and his teams play good football. Not sure he's overly bothered about youth though and he would come with big wages as such a big name.

I'm intrigued to know what people think. I like Howe a lot but I can't help but feel like he's a Poch 2.0 and at this stage I can't help but wonder if we would need to be looking at a bigger name now that we're more established as top 4 team. It feels like appointing Howe would be a little bit of a backwards/sideways step whereas Conte would be more of a bold move.

Last time around we shot for LvG as the serial winner, he turned us down and we opted for Poch. It worked out beautifully in many ways but, as we are often reminded, we're yet to win anything. Worth thinking about.

I'm going to come out and say something controversial - something i've never really done before,:sneaky: and so I think Conte should be our next choice. Hands down.

He’s not going anywhere. Dele in his interview after the game says Poch is one of the main reasons he loves playing here and plays a big part of that. He’s not going to have signed a new contract without reassurances from the manager. No chance, it makes it harder for him to leave should the manager go as teams would have to pay a ridiculous amount to sign him from us now.

Doesn't fit the world''s caving in narrative in here though...

Agree.

You just know that the 'contracts aren't worth the paper they're printed on' and 'he clearly just signed for the money' crowds will be ready and waiting though.

Signing a contract just means we can extract more from the buying club. I wouldn't read to much into it. If players want to go they will. He's more likely to stay if he is happy with the manager, the progress and ambition shown by the club. You take any of those away and he will go.

Let's not make out that everything is hunky dory because Dele signed a new contract. It's positive and I hope that everything we hear in the next few months are equally positive so we can all be happy again.

Asked if Pochettino was influential in signing a new deal, Alli added: "It's a big part of it. The fans and the club are amazing, the players as well, we've got a special bunch of boys and everybody gets on really well.

Poch is the one we're working with all the time, it's his philosophy that [is the reason] why we love playing here.
"When I think about signing, obviously Poch plays a big part in that."

But you can read what you want to read into it if it honestly makes you feel better.
